Does anyone know any good music groups or artists that sing in French? It doesn't necessarily be Christian. I was just thinking that listening to French music would help me with my French studies a lot. ^^

I'd recommend the band La Bottine Souriante who've put out quite a few albums. You could also try Marie-Jo Therio, or Barachois, Blou, or Thierry Robin

The McGarrigle sisters also sing quite a few of their songs in french as well. In general, if you google Quebecois or Acadian music, you should also come across quite a few artists.

If you like musicals, the French soundtracks to Les Miserables and Notre Dame de Paris both have some fairly good songs, although you will probably have to buy them online.

The composer Francis Poulenc wrote quite a few secular chansons (I have them as a part of this two-disc collection), but this is twentieth-century music and might or might not be to your taste (I actually like Poulenc's chamber music much better than the choral works I have heard).

From my own days in French class, I recall that Celine Dion sometimes sings in French; from looking at the song titles, the album "On Ne Change Pas" seems to be a collection of her French songs.

"The Dawnseeker" by Sleepthief has one song in French, "Entre Ciel et Mer," which is simply gorgeous. The other tracks on the CD are also good, but (unfortunately) sung in English.

Thanks for advice. I was particularly looking for French lyrics to sing along and so on, because I have noticed that it's a good method for learning language and remembering words (I know dozens of Japanese songs by heart, and that helps me remember the vocabulary etc.) ^^
