Evanescence came out with a new music video for their new CD, The Open Door, a couple weeks ago.
here's the link for the music video(don't worry it's clean if u want to watch it!!!). it's called, Call Me When You're Sober. Amy Lee plays a gothic little red ridinghood character in it. so it's awesome!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZh43-XoL8s

and here's the link to their website: http://evanescence.com/

Hi Zelda,

Evanescence are indeed awesome!
Some people say they are just gothic wannabes, but whatever. Some say their music is depressing and negative. I disagree. While their music is melancholy it speaks of hope to come and I can see lot of spiritual parallels of faith in their lyrics, and the struggles it takes to believe (in Jesus). It's not overt, but that's what I get out of it.

Can't wait for the new cd! I remember there was a website where Amy Lee had some of their older songs up for free download. I haven't tried it and I can't remember where it is. Bummer. (lol)

I watched the music video. It was pretty good. The lip sync was really off though, anyway.

i know really! what i really love about her music is that every song is her feelings writtin down on paper. and people think that's depressing but if every1 wrote down how they felt when they're sad, and turned it into a poem or song it would be really depressing. i write down my feelings into songs a lot and they tun into things that are almost worse then Amy Lee's! rofl!!!

fieldsofinnocence.com has the free songs :D Though they've had a major revamp but I'm assuming they're still there. You have to register first before you can access them though. I know I posted the site a while back when I first joined and none of the songs worked but it must have been a bug or something cause the next day they all worked again.

Havent seen the new video yet.... I'll have to go check it out.

Oh... you posted a link to it... the lip sync was off but I'm sure that was just youtube... it always does that.

my sister is a fan of Evanescence..however I am not really..I shall tell her ^_^

my pastor's son was in a fraturnity with an old member of this band...they kicked him because he wanted to have them write Christian lyrics. I have heard that they are pretty anti-christian as well...

Scarecrow! Mate, good to hear from you! Thanks for the site, I remember you telling me of it sometime back, but then the links didn't work.
Nice that Amy Lee gave permission to have these for downloads. Some good tracks.
I love Origin - "Where will you go"

Here are the lyrics to their song: Lies (they were Christian, as to whether they are now it's between them and God)

"Lies"

Bound at every limb by my shackles of fear
Sealed with lies through so many tears
Lost from within, pursuing the end
I fight for the chance to be lied to again

You will never be strong enough
You will never be good enough
You were never conceived in love
You will not rise above

[Chorus:]
They'll never see
I'll never be
I'll struggle on and on to feed this hunger
Burning deep inside of me

But through my tears breaks a blinding light
Birthing a dawn to this endless night
Arms outstretched, awaiting me
An open embrace upon a bleeding tree

Rest in me and I'll comfort you
I have lived and I died for you
Abide in me and I vow to you
I will never forsake you

[Chorus]
[Chorus]

Rest in me and I'll comfort you
I have lived and I died for you
Abide in me and I vow to you
I will never forsake you

[Chorus]

my favorite song from them is Even In Death, from the Origin CD. (oh! they aren't christian anymore. they used to be, but i guess Amy Lee went through the same thing i did but didn't recover.)

Give me a reason to believe that you're gone
I see your shadow so I know they're all wrong
Moonlight on the soft brown earth
It leads me to where you lay
They took you away from me but now I'm taking you home

[CHORUS:]
I will stay forever here with you
My love
The softly spoken words you gave me
Even in death our love goes on

Some say I'm crazy for my love, Oh my love
But no bonds can hold me from your side, Oh my love
They don't know you can't leave me
They don't hear you singing to me

[Chorus]

And I can't love you, anymore than I do

I will die, but real love is forever.

Actually they claim to be Christians themselves (at least Amy Lee and Ben Moody... who left), but just didn't want to be labeled as a Christian band and say their lyrics have no spiritual meaning at all and anything more is just your interpretation (though it's quite obvious many of their Origin stuff do)

But yea, my favorite songs are Where Will You Go, Lies, and Anywhere. Good stuff :D

Ah, evanescence. It has been so long since I have listened to thier music.

*watches music video*

Hm... seems like they are going to go in a slightly different direction with this Album, I'll have to check it out. I really like to see bands grow and evolve. Especially old favorites like this. ^_^

ChristianRonin wrote:my pastor's son was in a fraturnity with an old member of this band...they kicked him because he wanted to have them write Christian lyrics. I have heard that they are pretty anti-christian as well...

Both are incorrect.

1. David Hodges left on his own.

2. Considering the band members happen to be Christians, I fail to see how they can be anti-Christian.

Not to metion Bruce from Living Sacrifice appeared on their song "Lies".

David Hodges left because he wanted the band to go in an even more Christian direction with their music, the others wanted to keep it more subtle.

Still wrong. Hodges wanted to do solo music, and to write for other artists. He didn't want them to become a Christian band.

No, I read this on their Fields of Innocence website. Hodges did want to write solo music, but before that he wanted them to go in a more Christian direction but without becoming a 'Christian' band as such.

Just a note... Fields of Innocence is not an official site. It's a fan site as far as I know.

And I have no clue what the whole story is on differnt peeps leaving and all that. I'm still trying to get the story straight as to why Ben left exactly.

Not to metion Bruce from Living Sacrifice appeared on their song "Lies".

And Paul McCoy of 12 Stones appeared on the Bring Me to Life music video (not the album, just the video)...

For those of who have suggested that all (or none) of Evanescence's current members are Christian, or of which are confused as to the bands Christian origins or the leaving of Ben Moody, I would strongly advise reading this highly informative 2004 Blender.com Interview with Evanescence lead singer Amy Lee.

Nice article. Warning though to those who may read it, there is a bit of cussing in it. All stuff I already knew though from being a fan from the early rise of Bring me to life. I did research back then, got a copy of Origin, the 2 demos etc. I cannot wait for the Open Door to come out. I have been listening to Call me when your sober nonstop since I got it. It's different...not the same as Fallen...but I think that may be a good thing. I still say Terry Balsamo is 100 times the guitarist Ben Moody ever will be. (Then again I am a Cold fan so maybe I am biased)

I really like most of evanescence's CD fallen. but the rest i'm not really into. I like nightwish and evanescence. they both rock.
