Elderly Rock Stars in Concert

I just found out that The Who will be doing some concerts in my province this fall. My first reaction was 'I am SO there!'

But then I found out that the tickets are $60 to $200, so odds are I would end up in the nosebleeds. It's also only half of The Who and my two favorite members are unfortunately deceased. That and they're gonna be doing some new material and I might be forced to realize that Pete Townshend and Roger Daltry are not young rebellious rockers anymore.

I guess the point of this post is, is it worth it to see aging classic rock acts in concert? I'm a little worried about the cost and very worried about altering my view of them permanently, possibly in a depressing way. But then again, it could be my only/last chance to see them live and it would be cool to witness such key figures in the history of rock.

OH SNAP. THE WHO.

And yeah. The whole band wouldn't be there, but still...it's THE WHO. I won't twist your arm, but if it was me, I would totally go.

Hopefully the new stuff won't suck.

I thought about it some more, watched a bunch of clips of them live and realized I at least have to try to get tickets.

I'll probably have to go with my father though, he's the only Who fan that I can find in my immediate vacinity. Most of my friends are either turned off by the fact that their parents are fans or they only know of them because of CSI 9_9

Thanks for the input though. No arm twisting required

A good "oldschool" band to see in concert is MxPx. They're 14 years old!

I think The Who may be a tiny bit older, give or take several decades ^_~

That's true...But what's several decades got to do with anything?

Indeed. XD MxPx's members are only in their 30's. Anyways, The Beach Boys still do concerts every once in a while, so maybe you should give it a shot! Sure, the Rolling Stones were awful at the Super Bowl, but this might be different. And hey, it might still be cool to see them, especially if you really enjoy their stuff. :thumb:

*dances* I'm going to see The Who. I'm going to see The Who. And I have the tiiiickets ^.^

Dear goodness I am so worried there will be an assignment due the next day at 9 AM. Especially with my tendency to procrastinate, end up in an artist block and pull all-nighters. O_O

Total awesomeness! Have a great freakin' time, yo.

...as if you wouldn't. I mean, you're going to go see THE WHO. That immediately implies a good time will be had. :D

I'm deffinetly gonna go see The Who they're one of my all time favorites. Pino Pallidino is playing bass and he was awesome with Bad Company, David Gilmour, Jeff Beck, and the John Mayer Trio.

I'm also seeing Roger Waters and Nick Mason from Pink Floyd in September. They're going to play Dark Side of the Moon in it's entirety is that friggin awesome or what!?

The bassist sounds pretty promising, I must investigate! I've always been so down about the fact that I finally got into The Who after John Entwistle died. He pretty much rocked. I loved the fact that the other three would be jumping all over the place, exploding things, swinging microphones and bashing guitars, all the while John would just stand there off in his own little world. His bass playing makes me giddy ^^

*shudders* The Rolling Stones. That's precisely what I was fearing when I was waffling over whether or not to see The Who. Don't get me wrong, I love classic Rolling Stones music, but I think they've overkilled on the new material and touring. But it looks like The Who are still quite good live, this video is from back in '01:

*cough* Slight gravedig. *cowers from mods*

Saw The Who. It was ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE. I can't believe I even considered not going, heck I wish I'd shelled out 40$ more in order to be a wee bit closer to the floor.

Pete still jumps around and windmills like a madman, Roger belted it out and had the mic swinging at several points. It was very surreal, very blinding (pretty lights), absolutely deafening and one of the best concert experiences I'd ever had. Behind Blue Eyes actually got me a little choked and Won't Get Fooled Again had the audience going wild. Oo, and some of the new material was quite catchy, I love Tea and Theater.

Yup, I'm totally wired. If you get the chance to see these guys PLEASE DO!
