Yeah, I dearly love Blindside, but A Thought Crushed My Mind and The Great Depression are the only things I'm carrying around in my CD wallet right now.
Anyway...Blindside has been one of my favorite bands for a long time. They're not particularly hard, they're not particularly soft, they're just some good, Swedish rock n' roll. I love Blindside a lot. Their last couple of tours in the US have been fantastic. In '04 it was them with mewithoutYou and the Kick, and then they played with Showbread and The Showdown in '05. Whoever is picking their tours needs to keep at it. I can't wait to see who they tour with next.

Love blindside, though they're NOT the best.
Heck, they're not even the best Swedish band.

Who said they were the best? They're my favorite, though.

Especially people who don't listen to metal. The metal scene in Sweden and the surrounding countries is far better than the American metal scene.

But Blindside's not metal. Blindside is rock. People who call Blindside metal are on all kinds of drugs that are not legal in America.

lol, I know that much already. I was only saying that because said fans don't know of anything better from Sweden; Blindside is most likely the only Swedish band that they know of.

That's not even remotely metal. That's called hardcore punk.
Favorite song? I can't name just one.
Roads, probably. Followed by King of the Closest and then Time Will Change Your Heart.

Yep, they're definitely hardcore punk. And those are some of my favorite songs as well.

Blindside? Hardcore punk? I don't think so. But whatever.
I love Blindside, but my favorite album would have to be Silence. I'm not sure why, but I wasn't too impressed with the rest of their stuff, or even their more recent stuff. Their sound in general is raw and honest (I guess?). I haven't seen them live, but I hear they put on an amazing show.

The first two albums would be called hardcore punk by any music expert.

Historically, blindisde is far from anything that's had to do with punk. When I think of punk, I think of Minor Threat, Oxymoron, Anti-Flag, Dead Kennedy's and the Ramones. Anything that I would call punk would have to have some sort of influence in that direction. However, I'm not really into arguing about genres since it's all about opinion.

They do put on an amazing show. I've seen them twice and they blew me away both times.
As for this whole hardcore punk argument, they most definitely are hardcore punk. If you need an example, go listen to The Shape of Punk to Come by Refused. It sounds very, very similar to A Thought Crushed My Mind by Blindside. Blindside's entire sound is built in hardcore punk. A Thought Crushed My Mind was a step toward more basic "hardcore" but it wasn't in the traditional sense of it didn't have boatloads of chugga-chugga-breakdowns and chanted sing-a-longs.
I dunno, it's funny, I used to think that "punk" was like a swear word (it does have four letters) but as I'm getting older, I'm realizing that some of my favorite music is the stuff that could be considered kind of punk rock...and I'm okay with that.
