I really like the sound of Gregorian Chants, but there are so many CDs out there I have no clue where to start. Does anyone else listen to this genre and can possibly help me out?

An example of what I like (yes, I understand it isn't a pure chant): Click the Scarborough Fair sample

If you're interested in plainchant (which isn't necessarily always Gregorian chant), you might want to look at Naxos' collection of 'Early Music' CD's. In addition you might also want to try some of Hildegard von Bingen's stuff (being 12th century she's a little late to be called Gregorian), or other CD's from the period. The Anonymous 4 have made some pretty good CD's, and Noirn Ni Riain has quite a good one made with the monks of Glental Abbey. Some of Sequentia's stuff is quite good as well, and might be worth checking out at your local library. If you want something a little bit different, you could also try the music of the Orthodox church, which is mostly plainchant but with a few exceptions (E.g. Rachmaniov's 'Vespers').

Some personal picks from Naxos:
'An Introduction to Early Music'
'Hildegard Von Bingen: Heavenly Revelations'
'The Road to Jerusalem'

I don't know where you can get stuff quite like this. It sounds cool, though. I think I'll have to look into it.

If you like this, I *highly* recommend the Medieval Baebes. They do great medieval styled vocal music. Try their album The Rose.

Click here for that album. Try the song "I Am Eve".

For traditional chanting, you can try the famous Benedictine Monks of Santo Domingo de Silos. Their album Chant is quite good.

I really like Chant. It's a whole series, right?

Series? Chant is an entire musical category.

I think he is referring specifically to the chant recordings by the Benedictine Monks of Santo Domingo de Silos.

And the answer is yes. They have seven albums out, I believe. Though I only have the first.
