Old Time Radio:

From Sci-fi to Westerns to Mysteries to Comedies, I love it all.

Hopefully this will be a place that we can discuss OTR... but this thread has been around a while and no one has posted here except me, hehe. Is it a lack of OTR fans... or a lack of knowledge about this thread's existence, I wonder...

Anywho! I hope there are some of you out there that like OTR! I think there are one or two I have spotted... there may be more...

Some Great OTR sites that I love:

A great OTR program in the 1960s was The Story Lady. It was a hilarious parody of fairy tales! Check out the thread and samples on my putfile account: http://www.christiananime.com/showthread.php?t=33072

Have you heard of Jack Benny? Well Stan Freeberg had a show for a few weeks as a filler for the break in between the seasons of the Jack Benny Show.

Well I don't think that he'd be on the Jack Benny thing because it was just a show to keep people entertained because the Jack Benny show was on a break. Have any of you heard The Shadow? That was a good show.

YESS shadow is classic! They had a bunch of different voice actors for the part of "The Shadow" over the years. I have a favorite... but I can't remember his name,

Where do you get your audio collections, and how did you get into OTR?

I get some of mine from the links listed in my first post in this thread... I got into it after listening to an episode of "my favorite husband" on the radio and after my parents gave me some cassete tapes of Sherlock Holmes and The Shadow.

I usually listen to a show on WAMU every sunday night 7-11pm (eastern time). It is a local broadcasting station here in "Merryland," however, you can listen to it online at WAMU.org live from 7-11PM every sunday night or you can listen to the BIG BROADCAST episode from the previous week that they keep on there site at this link: http://www.wamu.org/programs/bb/index.php

I have recently been listening to X minus One! I love this show! It's introducing me to many sci-fi writers that I haven't heard of before. Really awesome writing and acting all around. I only wish that Galaxy Magazine was still around so I could read it!

X Minus One was a fun show to listen to. They definately had some neat stories. For some reason it reminds me of another old mystery/horror show called Lights Out.

I was never really a fan of the bickering bickersons. To annoying I thought. A good comedy was the Charley Macarthy show.

I honestly haven't listened to much OTR lately...They changed the time slots on the station that I listened to them on to some time late at night. And I've been away from my folks place for a few months so I don't have access to any of the tapes we have.

Suspense and the Whistler are also a couple of good ones.
But the Shadow defiantly is my favorite. “Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men. The Shadow knows. *evil laughter*â€

The Shadow is definately one of the best. I've listened to a good %70 of all the Shadow broadcasts.
