Am I Crazy or does anyone else like this stuff?!
All joking aside this is one of my favorite generes of christian music. When Is ay celtic I don't just mean that traditional stuff( although I really like that to) I also mean the modern stuff. Stuff that should be called celtic rock be cause it blends the old and the new in a way that sounds great. A good site to go see is
http://www.celticchristiantunes.com. They have a LIve365 station that plays the traditional and the modern styles along with occasianal celtic classics performed by one of the many cetic christian bands.
You
HAVE to follow the link if you want to hear good celtic christian!!

Hello...... any one out there?
Could some one please reply?
If you have some specific reson that you don't appreciate what I belive is the best style of music that the western world ever came up with, could you please tell me why?

I like that celtic sound too. Marie Brennan could be said to have a celtic sound in there, and she's definately Christian. There's a christian group out there who used to be part of another famous Irish band (can't remember the name now) but now they release CDs called like "Celtic Worship" and "Celtic Christmas". They're fairly enjoyable as well.
Personally, if it's going to be celtic, give me the instrumental.

Ashley, I belive that Marie is considered celtic christian not only because of her wonderfull music and the Gaelic lyrics in some of her songs, but also because her music is played on the celtic christan tunes web radio.(she kinda remindes me of enya
) I think the other group you're talking about is called Eden's Bridge. I love both of their music styles( yes there are differnt sub-styles of celtic music). Have you hear of Michal Card(o'Carden). He playes celtic christian as well as some other fiddle music.
Maire also spells her name Moya Just to let you know!
http://www.celticchristiantunes.com has a pretty large list of artist on their site with links to most of the ones with web pages. I think you should give the site a try. The reason I keep posting links to it is because I belive that their site is to celtic chistians as your site is to christian anime fans(minus the forum:sweat:)
Some of the artist do both classic instramentals and their own stuff.
(maybe i should just link to it in my sig?)

Marie Brennan? I've never heard of her, but I do know that Michelle Tumes has a bit of a celtic style in her music (her earlier CD's, not the "Dream" album.) Anyways, I'm a big fan of Michelle, and I think samples of her songs could be heard on christianitytoday.com

I think the reson you havent head of Maire (aka Moya) Brennen is because, like many chistian celtic artist her base of operation is in Ireland. There are still many more in GB. Here in America it seems that we tend to focas more on rock or pop singers for one thing. Secondly we focus seem to focus mostly on those that have spent quit abit of time on our continant.
Any way if you like the poular Irish singer Enya, then you should listen to Maire. If not you could still give it a try.
A word of warning : if you don't like music that you can't understand what they're singing about, unless you know Irish Gaelic there's afew songs of Maire's that you should stay away from. personaly I enjoy lidting to music in Gaelic; it's a very beutifull language.
a side note: my user name is niether Gaelic or Elvish, it's an actual Cornish name. Cornish is another Celtic languge.

I've heard a Canadian Celtic Rock band. I wasn't impressed with their style. They were probably not even christian. These others sound interesting. If I had the money I would get a cd to hear how some of the others sound.

Which one out of curiosity? There are quite a lot (and some very good ones too), especially from the East Coast. Scots Gaelic was spoken fairly commonly in rural Cape Breton until after the second world war (Nova Scotia after all..). I'm not familiar with any specifically Christian bands, although a few of the Rankin Family's songs sound as if they're religiously inspired.

Slaint Mhath (Slawncha Vah [pronunciation]) is the group's name. They played down at the Central Alabama Highland games a few weeks ago. I think they're east coast, not too sure.

I'd completely forgotten about this CD until I was playing it yesterday. You might also like Caoineadh na Maighdine (The Virgin's Lament), which is done by Noirin Ni Riain along with the monks of Glentstal Abbey. Essentially, it's Gaelic plainchant and is a recording of some very old Irish liturgical music.

Oh, I love Celtic Music! Marie Brennan is awesome! In case someone was wondering, she's Enya's sister and the lead singer for Clannad. I love Iona and Eden's Bridge. Well, why don't I just make an easy to read list off some the Celtic stuff that I listen to:
Iona
Enya
Eden's Bridge
Clannad (some of it's weird, though
)
Marie Brennan
The Electrics
And someone else mentioned Michelle Tumes. She's from Australia, but she does seem to have a distinct Celtic flare in her music.
Good stuff!
(And by the way ... I do hope everyone is pronouncing Celtic with a hard "c." I heard a radio announcer say that Enya was a hit in the "seltic" circles. This is one of my major pet peeves if you couldn't tell.)

What, you mean she's liked by Boston fans?
Come to think of it, I'm listening to "Lore" right now. Some others to think about:
The Rankin Family
Natalie MacMaster
Loreena McKennit
Kilt (sort of East Coast/Celtic/Rock)
Great Big Sea
The Cheiftans
The Barra MacNeils
The Irish Descendants
Quite a few others too, try picking up "Ceilidh Collection" from Nojo

I like what I've heard of Eden's Bridge. (I have a download of "Be Thou My Vision" from who-knows-where.) I almost signed up for that christianceltictunes website's CDs until I saw that in order not to have to deal with a non-secure server I would have to mail the bill myself.

Man, I never find these threads until they are three pages long! Where do they come from?? Yeah, I listen to a bit of celtic, and I really like it. Actually, in Jackson, MS, the city at where I go to school, every year they have a Celticfest, and it is just awesome! I have cds by Enya, Maire Brennan (I'm pretty sure that she is, in fact, Enya's sister), Loreena McKennitt, and Iona, from what comes immediately to mind. Great stuff. Some of Nickel Creek's music has a bit of celtic influence as well, but that's just a bit of a plug! See ya!

Oooh *huggles Celtic-y things* Oh, yes, Marie brennen is good. ^^ Enya's got a gorgeous voice, but does some new-age stuff, I think, so I'm debateing whether or not to keep my cds....but I really like the Cheiftians. ^^ And although I wouldn't really call it Celtic, michelle Tumes's cd, Listen, has some very haunting songs on it. ^^
