the heartagram? yeah sum ppl think it kinda looks like the symbol for satanism or whatever(an upside down star), but it actually stands for their unique genre of music, called "love metal."

Wrong board. And the few songs I have heard by HIM I have liked. There not bad. And no, they are not heavy metal by any means whatsoever.

Love metal? How would you decribe that?

Most of the people whoe like HIM at my school are goths or wiccas. Not that that's what the band themselves are like, but it doesn't make me wanna rush right out and buy their CDs either.

the main thing bothering me is the symbol. I wouldn't mind listening to some of the music to see how it is...do they have a Purevolume or something like that?

ok so i went to their website and did sum research.....all their songs are about love,in either a good or bad way. however the titles for their albums kinda did disturb me like" 666 ways to love" i think maybe theyre trying to make people think their satanic even though theyre not, just to cause controvery. however, it probably would be best if i distanced myself from this kinda music, just in case something really is scetchy.

Hmm...never heard of them. I love Goth Metal. Just looking at thier site. I kinda like thier little Heartagram. I have a t-shirt that has something that looks like a pentagram but instead it has 7 points.

Intresting to note (and I believe it) that the pentagram is actually a Christian symbol however perverted by Satanists and the Occult. The 5 points orginally meant the 5 wounds of Christ (2 hands, 2 feet, and his side). It also symbolized the number of man: 5. Kinda like the Swaztika which orginally meant "life" before the Nazi's took it.

They sound pretty good. I am fine unless a band cusses alot in their music, super depressing lyrics or say something like "Bow to the Devil and kiss his feet".

You want some good Christian goth metal bands?

Try Saviour Machine, Virgin Black, Bride, or Crimson Moonlight.

Quote from a H-I-M song: " take your six six six in my heart...". And they are Goth/Industrial. Goth is a type of music not a stupid stereotype that solly has to do with satin.

I'm still confused as to what "love metal" means.

love metal is just a title I think they put on it cuz all their songs are about love in some way*shrugs* I have "beautiful" and "Funeral of Hearts" on my PC.... I really really like them... they're not really heaving songs, their really pretty and FoH is really really sad... I personally see nothing wrong with the band...from what I've heard...

There name stands for his eternal majesty. Who do you think they are talking about? I think i know who. There symbol is the mix of a heart and a pentagram.
How could you think these guys are good? Edit: its infernal isn't it lol I meant Infernal majesty. Oh yeah there first recording was name 666 ways to love

I'm not praising HIM...I don't go out and buy their cds but their music isnt screaming "we worship satan and so should you" to me....

erm yeah...what bit i've read of their lyrics was rather disturbing. But the main reason i'm not fond of the group is that it was what a 'friend' of mine was obsessed with and apparently she got into wicca and some very disturbing things. Not to say the music was to blame, but it still makes me uneasy. I guess that I just prefer to err on the side of caution with this kind of issue.

I don't think these guys should be allowed to be talked about on Christian forums.

o.O

Not attempting to start anything, and probably this doesn't need a reply, but I have this comment eating at me and I might as well get it out. :P

umm...I totally disagree. Sure there's truth in the fact that Christian forums are a safe-haven in some ways from the more danger/negative aspects of our world's culture, but I think you make a mistake in saying such things should not be discussed here. On the contrary, I think it's a great thing that people on CAA feel free to bring up topics without fear of judgment. Isn't it better to be able to discuss these issues with our brothers/sisters in Christ and not feel evil or judged for it?

I have a big issue with Christians deciding that since an issue is possibly un-Christian in nature, that it should be avoided. There ARE issues that are best avoided on Christian forums because of subject-nature or the ability for a discussion to lead others INTO something harmful, but I dont see this as being the case. A forum member has/had a reasonable question about HIM being 'Christian-friendly' and, I hope, they found some answers or at least some feedback that helped. I dont think that kind of thing should be frowned on.

anyways....i'm rambling off-topic-ish, but yeah. This is just one of those issues that stares at me til I comment.

I agree with Jedi dune-princess. I needed to see what other christians thought of this band. I first got there Love Metal CD I liked it some things were questionable but i got over it, so when i got the Dark Light cd i was excited. but it was WAY darker than i thought it would be. so I need to stop listening to that one

and for every one's info. (even though the last post was like 2 yrs ago)
the HEARTAGRAM was originally created as a logo by the self described "Love Metal" band HIM. It combines a heart with a pentagram, and according to band members, represents the juxtaposition of love and hate/anger, or life and death.

And the 666 thing to them doesnt represent the sign of the beast just For them 666 it's a symbol of contradiction between goodness and evil in love.

NOW that does not mean in any way that i support that, if we associate with that people will think we are endorsing it. Even though we know what it (666 and the heartagram) means to the band it does not mean every one else does. All christians must be above reproch.(sp)

I had to learn that the hard way the Dark light CD was making me depressed and i was starting to get used to the common references to the devil (in what ever title they gave him). The devil is VERY sneeky in this case simple music, was used to hinder my relationship with God. So just be careful with what you all listen to.
Cheers

LMFAO. Okay, i don't really have a reason to quote this person, but i just thought that was hillarious.

I used to listen to HIM in middle school. I've heard most of their albums, and their songs encourage people to cut themselves and to find romance in blood and like, hurting yourself for someone that you love, which is completely unhealthy and encourages kids to have angst-filled relationships, when love is really about happiness. If you want to know more about them, read all their lyrics.. alot of it is about things that are painful, and kind of getting pleasure out of the pain.. it all disgusts me, really...

Now that i'm older, I think back on the band and laugh. I think somebody actually told me that they really were a joke-band, and that they made all this angsty music so that the new goth/punk whatever culture would buy their stuff and they'd make money. Which I'm against, too... but maybe its not true, i dunno.

;) wee!

To be honest, whether they're evil or not doesn't bother me. To me they're just one of 'Kerrangs' bands e.g the bands that Kerrang hypes up and features in like every 2nd or 3rd issue. They're alright (Buried Alive by loves pretty good and a couple of others) but to be honest they are over rated. They're the best of what's big at the moment and nothing much else. Sorry if any of you like them, but to me they hit a high note on the 'meh' metre (plus Aiden cancelled their uk tour to tour with them. why?)

Please say ROFL, TippyToes16 (chibiphonebooth`s friend).
You are implying two curse words which is completely unnesscary.

The BAM shirts have the 'Heart-A-Gram" on them so I`m pretty familar with the symbol. I always thought it was Bam`s symbol until I saw it was the Band`s *shrugs*. Anyways, I go to a Christian school and many people wear T-Shirts with that symbol and it`s fine. I like the symbol.

While I find the band overall weird, I do like their remake of "Don`t fear the Reaper." They sounds like Marylin Manson which I don`t think is very um....cool.

I tried to get into HIM, but I found their music to be really... bland. Their music and style was really unimpressive. To this day, I don't understand what appeal they have to people. They only have one song I liked, and it was a cover of a Turbonegro song (I'm not going to post the title).

Music hardly ever has a psycological hold on me. I may get emotional but depressing music doesn't make me depressed, angry music doesn't make me angry, etc etc. I can listen to a Satanic band or band with obvious anti-Christian beliefs and be perfectly fine consciously and sub-consciously. As for H.I.M., I don't like music that appeals generally to angsty teenage boys and girls usually.
