I just picked up Derek Webb's(of Caedmon's Call) first solo album, She Must And Shall Go Free. It has the same kind of folk sound that Caedmon's Call does, but this is a good thing, and some of the tracks are bluesy. Which is also good :D

Anyway, at our local Christian store, they still let you listen to a demo version of the CD before you buy it. So, I saw this, said, "Hey, Derek Webb, he's from Caedmon's Call." Then I went and listened to it, and it's one of the few CDs I've heard that grabbed me right away. So...I got it :D

The album talks about the church, meaning us, God's children. Here are some lyrics from the song "The Church":

I have come with one purpose
To capture for myself a bride
By my life she is lovely
And by my death she's justified

Anyway, if you like Caedmon's Call, you'll probably like Derek Webb's work too.

Okay, I realize that this topic is extremely old, and wouldn't want to unethically gravedig it. considering the circumstances however, I think it would be considerably better too post this information here then it would be to start a new topic on it, or leave it unmentioned.

On September 1st, Derek Webb will be opening FreeDerekWebb.com, a site in which Derek is allowing anyone to download, keep, and share his recent album "Mockingbird" for free. His reasons for doing this are fully explained on the mentioned site, though one could briefly sum them up to his desire to get discussions and productive thought going regarding sensitive issues such as war and poverty and "the basic ethics by which we live and deal with others".

It's an interesting move, to be sure.

Gee. I made this ages ago XD

I heard about FreeDerekWebb.com from his Myspace page, and I thought that was a really cool thing for him to do. I'll probably end up downloading a copy of it.
