What exactly happened this year?! I get all stoked for Disciple's and Extol's new releases last year and now... They release this type of stuff?!?!?!?!

What happened to sheer bliss that is Burial or the massively aggresive praise of By God

I may still buy Disciple's Rise Up album but after hearing Gloriana there's a 90% chance of me just forgetting about Extol till their next album...

So anyway list your bummer albums and band changes for the year so far. Any music style fits...

dude, i don't know that any band will ever put out as good a cd as By God, even my mom, who doesn't even like metal said that she would listen to it, but it's just a hair too hard for her to handle (she's not into all that screaming), then i got back again, and i was just kinda left there hangin' with my fond memories of God of elijah, i do recommend the disciple cd that has the song i just know on it, that's a really good song, in fact it's on my mp3 player right now

"I Just Know" is on their "This Might Sting a Little" album. I have that one... Oh well.

i think that's the only cd that i dont have by them, i actually saw them perform at a concert festival at carowinds in nc, and afterward i got to meet them while they were signing autographs and i found out that their drummer is from my hometown

I really didn't care for Relient Ks new album Mmhmm

D:! IMO, that was their best album ever lol.

As for Disciple's new stuff, I was really shocked too! But I kind of like it, its softer but still pretty hard. Kind of like Pillar a little bit.

::gasp:: I love Extol's new album. Just cause it's not the loud Extol a sbefore doesn't mean it's utter crap. I daresay, thier new soun dis mor ebeautiful then the earlier Extol...though less brutal.

This is a ongoing debate in some metal circles I belong in. I personally like both old and new. "Blueprint Dives" is a refreshing change to the typical fast-past metal out there.

I don't reallyy have a bummer album.

i've been contemplating the purchase of blueprint by extol, good to hear a review on it, so i'll keep that in mind when i make my decision, there are a couple of songs on the first extol cd i got, can't remember the name of it though, i thought they were really good, so i also got burial, and valley of silence i have to say is my favorite track on there, haven't heard anything since then though, has anyone heard any of the newer stuff from mortification, like silver cord is severed or relentless, i'm really curious to see how they compare to triump of mercy and hammer of God

Blueprint is defiently not Burial or Undecieved but nevertheless is awesome in it's own category.

Its not a real real recent CD. But POD's Payable On Death album was horrid. They took everything awesome...and destroyed it. Sonny sounds like he is in a coffee can most tracks. (reworked with computers and such) And he needs to go back to yelling and all like he used to...and stop trying to sing.

One of the biggest "bummer" albums for me was EastWest's second CD...They had a good hardcore thing going and they went all crappy and tried to become some Metallica clone.

I personally liked Hope in Anguish but that's just me.

After thinking about it, the biggest bummer of 2004/2005 for me was Demon Hunter's "Summer of Darkness" and Blindsides "About a Burning Fire". I loved thier previous c.ds and death and I practically worshipped DH self-titled but I missed the brutality that lacked in SoD. I only like 3 songs on About a Burning Fire while in all 3 of thier previous c.ds, I listened to every song and liked every song.

Yeah I agree with you on "About a Burning Fire" Not nearly as good as the rest of their stuff.

my only bummer album was Cross Movement's Higher Definitions....that was like THE low point for them.

Roper's Brace Yourself For the Mediocre kind of lived up to its name. I really like it, but lyrically, it was a step back for Reese Roper. Still, it's a fun CD.

Emery's The Weak's End. EW. I ended up giving this to a friend.

And as for About A Burning Fire, I wasn't disappointed in it. I mean, it's different, yes, and it's a LOT more experimental, but I think that's kind of cool. Go Blindside for branching out.

Let's see...so far, I've had zero disappointing albums in 2005. I've bought Eisley, the new Norma Jean and several others, and listened to Mae's new record (beautiful) and some other stuff. No disappointments for this year yet.

Maybe I am alone in feeling this way, but I think Summer Of Darkness towered over Self Titled by DH. I know several people who hated DH till they heard SoD. I felt like the first cd was just a Slipknot knock off...but the new album has been more doing there own thing...and gasp, being melodic. So much music these days has no melody. Just some dude abusing his guitar, and screaming as loud as he can. Music without melody sucks. (A good example of that would be Hatebreed)

Eisley's new CD is BEAUTIFUL. It's one of the strangest CDs I've ever heard, but I can't help but love it. It's so differant from everything else out there

Yeah, Room Noises is absolutely fantastic. You should check out their Laughing City and Marvelous Things EPs as well. Beautiful, beautiful stuff.
