That's good to hear.

Hopefully some groups that actually play good music would be saved.

I have never been a big fan of Tool or APC because of there lyrics. But I will say this, saying they are talentless is by far the most foolish thing I have heard today. Its one thing to feel like I do, and not be a big fan because of lyrics...but to bash them and say there talentless?

It was merely a jest, Shatty.

Wasn't Maynard a huge opponenet against Christianity? Or that's at least what I gathered when people talked about him. That's awesome news.

That what makes his news so..unbelivable. The same man who wrote hate filled songs like Judith. I wish the band or Maynard would comment on this on there site...but all seems quiet on all fronts...

What was the date on this? Could it have been an April Fools Joke? I mean, if Maynard did get saved then praise the Lord, but I dunno.

Hey, I know we're all skeptics up in here, having been taken for the proverbial "ride" by the likes of Evanesence, Stryper, and others, but c'mon... there are really only 2 ways to take this:
1. Jesus has saved him. Word to the Father, yo! All heaven is rockin so hard right now, simply for one soul redeemed from the pit... even if it's not Maynard... it could be that bum down the street, the corporate executive, that prison inmate, that single mother, that heroin addict, that successful spiritually-dead middle class father of two.... Regardless, one entering the Kingdom is worth more than all our doubts, but invokes our joys!
2. It's fake. Big whoop. Those of us who appreciate his music, and the talent God has given him, regardless of how he has chosen to slander the One Who imbued him with it, should be praying for him anyway. Saved? He's going to need prayer, that God would give him that new Christian support group, tight and grounded in the Word. Unsaved? He's still in desperate, eternal need of Christ, and therefore, our prayers are still worthwhile.

Sorry to burst everyone's bubble, but Maynard did that as an April Fool's joke to make fun of Brian "Head" Welsh from KoRn. I think it was the sickest joke ever. That confirms my hate for Maynard James Keenan. I still like tool, the band, anyway. The musicians are excellent, but maynard now has only my contempt.

A member on a music forum posted this:

MTV

Has Maynard James Keenan, the frontman of both the dark, heavy-metal art band Tool and the somewhat lighter A Perfect Circle, found Jesus and been born again? Well ...

Recent postings on two Tool Web sites — one of them purportedly by Keenan himself — contend that the singer has found religion and has left Tool. Could this really be? On Tuesday afternoon (April 5), MTV News' Kurt Loder e-mailed Keenan for confirmation, and this is what he e-mailed back: "I did, in fact, find Jesus. More news to follow. God bless ya."

Keenan's letter to fan site toolshed.down.net explains that "some recent events have led me to the rediscovery of Jesus" and that "Tool will need to take the back seat." A posting on Tool's Web site alludes to Maynard's newfound Christianity as well, but who wrote the post is unclear. It reads, "I went to the studio to give Maynard a bottle of wine ... [and] not only wasn't Maynard there, but ... I was told Maynard has indeed 'found Jesus' and that, for this reason, he's abandoned the project for the time being, if not entirely."

But given their timing (one dated March 31, the other April 1), both posts were dismissed as April Fools' pranks, leaving fans wondering whether Keenan and the rest of Tool were just having a little fun with everyone.

The band's management could not be reached for comment or confirmation on the matter.

Keenan would be the second rocker in as many months to profess a renewed interest in religion. In late February, Korn's management formally announced that guitarist Brian "Head" Welch was leaving his band to rededicate his life to Christianity (see "Brian 'Head' Welch Talks God To 10,000 In California Church").

Whether Keenan — the man responsible for songs like "Prison Sex" and "Jerk-Off" and who for a time carried business cards with the name "Jesus H. Christ" printed on them — will become the second rocker to turn his back on a high-profile, highly successful band to follow a more spiritual path remains something of a question mark for the time being. But at least one person expressed glee over Keenan's apparent decision: Head.

"This is a beautiful, beautiful outpouring of the Holy Spirit," Welch wrote in an e-mail to MTV News.

When I first read about this online my first thought was, April fools joke. However, considering we are to the 6th now and nothing offical has been said...I am starting to think there might be truth to it. Quite a few of Tools fans are not happy right now..I was reading on a few message boards where there all mad because of Maynard doing this...I really hope this is true...it speaks volumes to the power of the Lord if this man can be used for the Kingdom.

I still cannot believe this since Tool were one of those bands that were heavily against Christianity and all its' components, it was pretty evident in their songs.

Perhaps I shall actually fall for this once more days pass and Tool the band or Maynard start their new musical venture.

I heard that he announced that he was just doing it to make fun of Head. I thought he announced it later. I heard on the local rock station that it was just a joke. If it's true, praise God. I still would wish tool would stay together. The musicians in that band are amazing.
