J-pop...PLEASE! SAVE ME FROM IMPENDING DOOM! >O<

PLEASE...*drags self forward* Tell me of some clean j-pop bands to recommend to my little sister! She is driving me ABSOLUTELY OUT OF MY MIND!!!!!
Ever since she got addicted to Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi, she is singing their songs everywhere she goes, every day, every hour, every cheesing minute of the day! She knows all of the soundtrack songs (I wouldn't let her see any of the lyrics to their other albums) backwards and forwards, in English and Japanese...one of these days I know I am going to lose it. She recorded all of the songs on our mini tape-recorder and plays them non-stop in her room. She has little signs taped all over her door saying "I LOVE J-POP" and "PUFFY AMI YUMI ROCKS"...complete with a full episode listing and all of the song lyrics. *sigh*
Please, I need to get her interested in another band because if I hear those songs ONE MORE TIME I AM GOING TO HURT SOMEONE!!! *twitchy eye* -__-
She says she wants to join CAA and make a j-pop thread. (in which to post pictures of goofy-looking people with poofy hair that cannot play an instrument...@_@)
I'm on the verge of destroying everything J-pop/kawaii at this moment...not even Hello Kitty will survive! MUAAAAAAHAHAHAHA!!!! *dies*
*resurrects* In other words, I'd really appreciate if anyone could point me towards some j-pop that my sister would enjoy listening to that is NOT Puffy Ami Yumi. I don't care how dumb it is...just please...please don't make me listen to "planet tokyo" again.
Okay, I'm done ranting now

Asian Kung-Fu Generation and Utada Hikaru are the first two that come to mind.
I don't listen to much j-pop. ^.^; I prefer heavier, more gothy stuff.

That's ironic, considering most people would have Hello Kitty up at the top of their things to destroy list.

I dunno - they sound kinda poppish sometimes. O.o; I just figure they're pretty cool so I suggested them.

I would not at all recommend Utada Hikaru. Her lyrics are BAD for some of her songs.

Sowelu, Crystal Kay, Soulhead, and CHEMISTRY are all good choices. You said that your sister has learned Puffy Ami Yumi songs in Japanese. Maybe you should see if you can get her on the bandwagon to learn the language.

I'd just be into anyone if they're not crossdressers. (Which is a sin in the Bible btw.) Asian Kung fu Generation rocks. And Orange Range. They both did music for Naruto and Orange Range did the theme song for Bleach, Asterisk.

http://www.muzie.co.jp/ fills all my music needs, and not just J-Pop, although there are lots of them. Warning: most of the artists are below the sucky level, avoid.
vin-PRAD is nice.

Wow...really? I have two of her albums. One is "Deep River" and the other is "Exodus", her crossover to America cd, in English. The lyrics for these two albums are fairly clean...I'd rate them PGish, at worst. Perhaps I'm not as exposed to her work as I had thought. At any rate, those two should be okay. She's got incredible talent, and her music is just beautiful.

This is probily not what you want to hear but you can't force her out of a fade, But that is all it is a fade. It wouldn't last long so just talorate it while it last.

I'm more of a Jrock person, but SMAP fill my Jpop needs when I crave it. ^__^ Unfortunately, they've been doing more dramas than albums recently, but even their older music is pretty good. And they have some nice lyrics (and beautifully horrible Engrish--what more can you ask for?)

I'm a big Maaya Sakamoto fan (she does lots of Yoko Kanno songs) - thanks to Mave indoctrinating me into her music while visiting XDDDDDD. I like Utada Hikaru and have listened to a good amount of her songs. I'm not sure if the Doctor has been listening to the same person I have. o_0
Also, Nami Tamaki, Yui Horie (cute and infectious stuff, but not as irritating as Puffy Ami Yumi. She is also the Japanese voice actress of Tohru Honda in Fruits Basket), Hitomi Shimatani (not my fave, but some good stuff), Aikawa Nanase (she has some very rock-like songs too), Ayumi Hamasaki (one of the most prolific of j-pop artists), and Boa Valenti (she might be K-pop?).
I also love Orange Range - one of my favorite anime theme songs from Bleach "Arigato" - but I believe they are more j-rock, not j-pop. In fact, a lot of people mentioned j-rock artists.
Overall Maddie, J-pop is great music. ^_________^

*nods nods* Maaya Sakamoto is the best female Japanese singer in my books. ^___^ Take heed. XDD
I don't really listen to any specific Jpop artist apart from Maaya Sakamoto and Porno Graffitti. In general, I think most female Jpop singers' voices are too high-pitched for my taste.
