Couldn't help myself. Sorry for going OT.

ROFL!!!! Good one there.

--------
For me being able to listen to a lot of rock and metal isn't about my having a strong walk with God (partly because I know it isn't strong) .

I don't condemn any genre of music for what it sounds like or who else uses that style. It's how it is used that determines it's worth.

If someone uses Metal to blaspheme God then it is WRONG!
But using the same genre to glorify God I'm 100% ok with.

That's one reason, the other is that most other genres bore me... No offense to anyone but I can't stand traditional hymns! I don't even like most contemporary worship music. It's not that I don't like worshipping God I just don't like the style it's done in :eh:

Demon Hunter's 'Gauntlet' or Skillet's 'Thirst is taking over' is soooo much more helpful to me when it comes to worshipping God! just personal taste :P

-------------
There's not a single Christian music type that's gonna be best for EVERY CHRISTIAN. I think God intended it that way and that's why we have The Holy Spirit to help us decide which music is best for the individual. *celebrates diversity and variety*

I totally agree.
We are not created as carbon copies of each other. We are all different and diverse, each of us will like a different style of music and for different reasons. Same way each of us likes different kinds of manga/anime and different ways of drawing it. We all have different talents and a different purpose.

I'm part of the problem
I confess
But I gotta get this off my chest
Let's extinguish the anguish
For which we're to blame
And save the world
From going down in flames

What you think of me
I don't care
And I don't care
My father, He knows me well
No more, no more pointing fingers!

There have actually been studies done that prove that those who listen to C/W music have a higher chance of committing suicide than those who don't.... but on top of that (as was pointed out years ago), you will find C/W artists who will sing Amazing Grace or some other "Gospel" tune one minute, and in the same show, program, album, etc. go on and sing about all sorts of immorial things (sleeping around, getting drunk, etc.)

Soloman put it best when he said "There is no new thing under the sun."

And while I respect those who don't like the Christian alternitives to Secular music... I do wonder when people will single out music as having to be seperate, and not do the same for other things such as books, movies, etc. (Though there is an aspect of music when it comes to worship that does make it a bit different, but most of the people that fuss about those things are still using music styles that aren't based on the roots of Christianity... I'm of the firm belief that we've too westernized Christianity and forgotten that it started as a completion of Jewish tradition, worship, and beliefs.)

Well, folks this is mostly a reply to ...

Master Dias: yes, there is a lot of Christian music that has secular roots to it...i guess what i meant, is that current Christian music should not appear to be so similar to current secular music. There needs to be a difference.

Icarus: no offense, man, but the target of worship (Christian music) should be God, not the unbelievers, and much less ourselves. As for not listening to music because you don't like it, well, that's a decision they (whoever it may be) must make.

Skynes: I'm not sure what you're saying. I believe that if music is hindering your walk with Christ, you shouldn't listen to it. Now if Christian Heavy Metal blesses you, well, that's between you and Christ. Does it keep your mind focused on the things above? Does it remind you that there is a spiritual plane to this existence? Do you remember the blessings of God? Just trying to help man.

Personally I believe that Music is music...it is lyrics that determine the song...similiar with books, movies...everything...it isn't the type of book (hard or soft cover) or the type of music (alternative, country, rap etc.) that make it a "bad" book or "good" book, same with music...it is the words and what it means within it...

Anyways, worship is defined in Websters disctionary as "a reverance or devotion to a diety. Bieng God, gods, goddess, whatever.

But as Christians worship can be anything from of course signing to praying to just sitting still iny our bedroom listening to God.

Music is just many of ways of worshipping God. I odn't know if that pertains to the topic, I just needed to say that.

A lot of secular music has the effect of making me depressed (Slipknot, Mudvayne, Manson, Cradle of Filth etc.)
But Christian Metal has the effect of helping me focus on God, sometimes the lyrics speak to where I'm at which helps quite a bit.

Hey guys,
After this site calls Disciple demonic they go on to say;

CCM wrote:Any person with a pure heart would know that for sure! A precious child undefiled by the world became fearful and cringed with fright, even terrified when hearing this music, the very sound made the pure heart cringe! This alone should show us the impurity and defilement with this music?

Does this paragraph make any sense to you guys? I'd like to know where they found a so-called child undefiled by the world. Hmm, maybe they pulled him out of his little closet...

Other than that, the argument on Disciple was pretty legit. Guess that's sad since their my favorite band...

Oy! Does anybody know what the intials for Corrupt Christian Music is?

Ha! I wonder if they've ever read the scripture in the bible: 'Judge not lest ye be judged yourselves'. They're just a buncha nit-pickers that seem to think famous people need to be 100% good and never make a mistake.

Thanx for that, it was quite amusing to read.

information and photographs are disturbing and sensually explicit, for this

I have yet to find ONE disturbing or sensually explicit photo. :S What's her definition of 'disturbing'? Would it be anything other than suit and tie?

I can't tell you how many times I have been blessed and have worshiped to the likes of POD, Pillar, Project 86, TOURNIQUET!!!, Relient K, Thousand Foot Krutch, Supertones, Skillet, The Benjamin Gate...my list goes on and on and on...you CAN worship to Christian hardcore, metal, punk, whatever. Genre has no say in my worship.

>>>Does it keep your mind focused on the things above?<<<
Yes.
>>>Does it remind you that there is a spiritual plane to this existence?<<<
oh, yeah!
>>>Do you remember the blessings of God?<<<
Yes!!!!!

Again, if you don't like it, DON'T LISTEN TO IT! How can you make accusations of something you've never heard in an attempt to keep your pious ears holy?

Any person with a pure heart would know that for sure! A precious child undefiled by the world became fearful and cringed with fright, even terrified when hearing this music, the very sound made the pure heart cringe! This alone should show us the impurity and defilement with this music?

'scuse me? If I remember correctly, in the Bible, if you're saved, you're a new being in Christ. That means...what is it, boys and girls?
Very good! Pure in God's eyes!(BTW, I fall asleep to Tourniquet, Demon Hunter, blindside, and Thousand Foot Krutch.

this is what they said of pillar

CCM wrote:Pillar's inspirations and favorites are grotesque, filthy, and blasphemous. We've had to go into Hell itself, exposing ourselves to absolute evil, in order to show the public who these bands are, and these people live here and admire this. Imagine what lines ofthe heart one must cross, in order to "love" such as this.

CCM artists, are bringing their followers right smack into the center
of MTV, ungodly concerts, ungodly radio stations, ungodly music

followers then begin opening their once guarded heart and
mind, and end up right back where they were before they thought

Hahaha they also bash on Benjamin Gates gas mask symbol saying thier's nothing Christ like bout so thus it's not Christian. Saying the gas mask represents war and rioting and thiers a star behind it and they said it represents a pentagram ::rollseyes::

Has anyone noticed how many times they said compromise?

I really REALLY hope the ppl who run this are just deceived.

It's impossible to really look at these bands and see what they do and say Its not from God. People get saved at their concerts! Ppl are brought closer to God through their music!

Only two alternatives here

1. They are deveived
2. They know it's from God and still stand against it.

I pray it's the first one. The second one I don't want to even think of.

A few quick points. I think the website in question could be valid if it offered sound arguments but it doesn't do a good job in that. It doesn't have a lot of facts and doesn't explain points well.

However, artists do need to take a responsiblilty in keeping God first with Biblically based lyrics versus trying to impress the world. From someone who loves the contemporary sounds of Christian and gospel music, I have seen artists compromise the message for the sake of reaching the world.

I listen to an amalgamation of Christian/Gospel music including some that is classified as Hip-Hop or R&B. But I screen the music closely; just because it has a Christian label doesn't mean that the album will necessarily glorify Christ. No matter what the genre, if I can't understand what you're saying and faith comes by hearing the Word of God, then it is confusion.

I can listen to GRITS and Verbs, two sets of Christian Hip Hop artists but my wife cannot because it reminds her of the world's rap artists who don't glorify God and tempts her to want to listen to those things. I don't have that issue but out of love for her and to prevent stumbling blocks, I don't listen to them around her.

Bottom line: If it brings you closer to God, deepens your faith, edifies your soul, that's fine and it is between you and the LORD. But if it causes you to want to listen to the ungodly options of the world, then it should be avoided.

PS - Is anybody else tired of artists who have immoral albums throw in one obligatory "Christian" song on their album or worse yet who Thank God for blessing them with the ability to talk about sexing multiple women, abusing their bodies, killing their own kin, and materialism. Talk about confusion!

Blessings,
WillieDoc

From what I understand, only one member of BSB, Bryan, was openly christian. I really wonder what he feels about singing about non-christian values. (no no I'm not judging him, just wondering whether it's tough for him to perform in a completely secular group and yet uphold christian teachings). ^^; Must be.

grrrrrrrr ::shakes fist at CCM::

ok guys get this (BTW East West is one of my favorite bands and as much as i find this funny, I'm very insulted by this statement)

another useless quote by CCM bout East West wrote:This band's music is compared to Korn, and other songslike Foo Fighters How in the name of God could this
band be ministering to the saved or for that matter, theunsaved? This music only appeals to man in his loweststate apart from God? Anyone who thinks that one can walkwith God and listen to this garbage has been greatly
deceived! There is a song titled 'Wake' which sounds are completely from the pit of Hell!

Seriously...Im starting to find this not as funny but more stupid, rediculous, and starting to really get frustrated in how blind and close-minded these people are. I'm starting to think they're not even Christian or anti-Christian music Christians.

Maybe we should make a Anti anti-Chrsitian music website......or maybe a Anti-CCM website
