I still might pick this one up, just to have......I'm not gonna bash it even though I can't stand the single, 'cause, well, I have this bad track record of dissing CDs and then ending up loving them.
...well, I mean, I'm not gonna diss it anymore than I already have. >_>
After further listening, is it still good, Spike? How's the album's longevity?

Nice, kids. Pay no attention to the haters: I liked Vampires, I liked Mirrors, and now I like The Black Parade. You've got something going, guys, and Lord knows I can't see this getting any better, but good on you. Keep it up!

psh.
but i love them!
SpikeSpiegel306 wrote:I have very personal ties with this new album. I am in a band with a very gifted guitarist (to put it lightly) who is close friends with Ray Toro and through him I have grown to know the members of My Chemical Romance on a rather personal level and I love them very much! They are the nicest, normalest (word?), and most down to earth celebrities I have ever been around and I was so excited as they were making the new album.
It's a really interesting album. It is a story album, much like Pink Floyd's "The Wall" or The Who's "Tommy" and it flows very well as such although the story seems a bit hard to follow sometimes. The whole album is centred around a character deemed "The Patient" who is diagnosed with terminal cancer and has to face his imminent death. The band wanted to showcase an interesting take on the concept of death. The idea is that Death comes for us in a way that we choose and is usually tied to a memory of days gone by. The main character decides to interpret his death as a Black Parade since he has a strong memory of his father taking him to see a parade when he was young. It is a very emotional and powerful album with great lyrics.
If you are an MCR fan and haven't gotten it, I recommend it very much! A few things that I drew from it:
1. Dont expect the "old" My Chemical Romance to show up in the album very much. Look at this as a new band, they really wanted to get away from their old style of playing and try something completely different. (They even changed their appearance and took a pseudonym "The Black Parade" for the band to help with the transformation).
2. It's a very "Queen"esqe style of music. Much harder than Queen, but layered music and EXCELLENT harmonies that are similar to the ones that made Queen famous in the 70's.
3. It's a story album, so while the songs are great as singles, the album played all at once, in order, is AMAZING.
4. It does have some (very very little) Explicit Language...but it is My Chemical Romance, so that is to be expected.
So, I know there have to be some MCR fans here somewhere...right? I hope so. Anyway, the new album, what do you think? Comments, questions, miscellaneous gripes?
