Gretchen (Rock metal band)

Postby Warrior 4 Jesus » Wed Oct 25, 2006 4:22 am

Has anyone heard of Gretchen? I just discovered them on the Net yesterday.
They're pretty cool. Since they are an underground rock metal band I can't find their stuff in Australia, so I'll have to buy their cds online.

Anyway they are Christian, but not preachy. Their sound can be best described as a hybrid of 1980s rock, No Doubt, Evanescence, Skillet and a little Superchick.

Give 'em a listen here:

Hope you enjoy them.
God Bless,

Christian

Eh...

They asked me to be their Myspace friend one time. I don't friend bands unless I like their stuff. Anyway, I listened to what they had on there and it was so awful I wanted to hit something.

Wow! Really? You only have to say you don't like them. What sort of music do you like?

I've listened to a bunch of samples from Gretchen and quite like their style - hardish rock with fairly smooth vocals. I've not bought any of their CDs though, mostly because I wish they were a little more blatently Christian in their lyrics. But perhaps I'll get the iTunes of my favourite tracks.
"Everybody's weird in their own special way." - P.V.
"Never refuse a breath mint." - my dad
"The UAC is making safer worlds through superior firepower." - Doom 3
"This world is a great sculptor's shop. We are the statues and there is a rumour going round the shop that some of us are some day going to come to life." - C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity

"I'm too cool to scroll. -- MOES."

Meh, I guess it depends on your taste. Hehe for that matter, most of the bands discussed on this forum make me sick to listen to. I can't STAND most of what is "recommended" here. But then, that's part of what probably makes me OLD. XD
Anyway, Gretchen seems "ok" to me. Nothing really spectacular, but most definitely tolerable. To me, anyway.

kryptech - I prefer more outspoken Christian lyrics too. XD

Thanks for the link, Warrior 4 Jesus!

All sorts of music (just nothing blatantly Christian, except for some R&B). I like their style and all, but they have some of the worst lyrics ever (Christian or not).

Hehe, I'll give you that, beau99. Not very thought-provoking... XD

I dont like em much either... I've known about them for a while now but meh... just dont care for them. And yea their lyrics arent that great either.. sometimes you cant even tell what they're talking about really... They're ooooooook.. but the band members do post on their message board at their webpage. Just the board is like the most dead board on the planet. But the band runs/posts on it quite often.

They are not bad. I heard them a while back. They remind me a bit of a Christian verson of Evanescence. (but I will say Amy Lee is the far more taleneted) That said, I did like what I heard.
