The Best of My Oekakis

Postby Haibane Shadsie » Fri Dec 05, 2003 7:33 pm

Pheh, I do art, but I don't find myself posting here often. I'm a little bored, so, I thought, what the hey, maybe I'll post some of the best oekaki works I've ever done.

I use a PC and I draw with a mouse. I have no tablet. All of these were done on Advanced Oekaki boards... some of them being like the CAA's board, and two of them being a board that is like.. Uber Advanced - having more features like Photoshop. That kind of board is a kind I'm new to, but it's pretty darn cool now that I'm learning how to use it.

Anyway, my drawings...

"L'ayela"... this is by far my best oekaki thus far. This winged dog is a main character in my novel.

"Sparyfs"... these are miniature gryphons. They are a cross between lions and sparrows, with a little bit of a squirrel element to them. They are about the size of chipmunks, and are generally cute, happy creatures.

"The Scavenger" ... this is the personification of Death in my novel's world. She wears a cloak of vulture feathers and rides a mystical skeletal horse. She's neither good or evil... she's dark, but serves a purpose. She's just all around spooky.

"Kamie and a Bird"... I did this last night at a friend's oekaki board. This is her character, Kamie. He is of a special race on his planet called the Alkseeya. He was raised by giant birds.

"Rem at the Grave of Alex"... a very odd little Trigun fanart I did at a Trigun specific oekaki board. It's a "pre-Trigun" fanart, of Rem at the grave of her lost love. It has a very Cowboy Bebob feel to it. I like the mood I set with this, with the rain and such.

Ack what nice art! And you write too!

The style is different from what I'm used to but I can see the quality of it. Great job for art with lotsa fantasy elements! ;) The first pic is one of my fav.

I get that from a lot of people - on my style... that it's not quite like any they've seen anywhere else.

I've had a lot of people not like my artwork because it's not "anime" style.

Don't let that bother you!....That's not a valid reason for not liking your work (especially if you've been asking anime/manga fans to evaluate your work - did you do that?) It's really good for whatever category it falls under, probably fantasy (?). Tried Elfwood? They do a lot of fantasy works. Either ways, good job and be encouraged ;)
