This evening marks the the beginning of Rosh Hashanah, or the new year according to Judaic customs. The day's festivities include eating sweet things, such as the signature apples dipped in honey. I implore you to try it, though just about anything with honey tastes good.

Shanah Tovah! Now it makes sense why my Jewish neighbours have been wishing each other "Happy New Year!" much to my confusion. I knew Rosh Hashanah was the one of the holiest days in the Jewish calendar, but the significance of it marking the beginning of a new year was lost on me. ^__^;
I am actually planning on attending a Rosh Hashanah service this weekend. I am looking forward to it!

So honey is like sour cream?
Anyways, I suppose I might as well extend my holiday salutations, though I'm not Jewish. Happy Jewish New Year!
