CAA: Christian Anime Alliance

Hey everyone! i am going to the AnimeNEXT convention in June, and i REALLY want to cosplay, problem is, i cant afford to buy a costume.(they are like, 80-115 bucks!!!! i can only spend like 30). I REALLY wanna go as Kagura Sohma, but i cant find an affordable outfit. HOWEVVA, i have this dress that i think would be good for Saki Hanajima, (Hana-chan from fruits basket). i cant post a pic but i'll describe it:
Its long and black (obvi) the front is satin and the skirt and back are velvet-y. it's got those sleeves that are normal till the elbow then they go OUT (bell sleeves). its got a square necline and the bottom and sleeves are trimmed with lace. i was also going to wear a hat with that netting that covers your face.
What do you think?

That sounds good. Although the hat doesn't seem as much like something she would wear. If you think it makes you look more like her go ahead and wear it.
The way you described makes it sound similar to the dress she wore while playing Cinderella for a play in the manga.

Out of curiosity, how are you planning on doing your hair?

The hat was somthing from the anime. but accually you are right. i was thinking either a side braid or 2 braids (i have medium length wavy hair) yeha, the dress looks somwhat like that, but the skirt's not as full and it has bell sleeves.

Yeah, I knew the sleeves didn't match, but that dress just came up in my head when you described yours. ^.^

It sounds really cool! The black clothes and side pony should be recognizable to Furuba fans. Will you have an Arisa with you?

Here's a cheap cosplay idea: Get yourself a black leather jacket with fur on the collar. You'd be Izaya from Durarara!!

heh, i change my mind 2 much. NOW i'm doing a female vers. of kyo sohma :3 no wig, just orange cat ears, cargo pants, n a black tee. ALso the BrAcElEt

Good choice. Kyo's easy to cosplay in terms of his costume.

Also, if you change your mind again, Kagura Sohma is pretty easy to cosplay as, especially if your hair is already dark brown/black.
All you'd need is a green dress (Maybe a Goodwill would have one?), black leggings, a pair of beige boots, and then either wear a long sleeved white shirt that doesn't show the collar portion when wearing it underneath the dress, or just buy a long sleeved white shirt then cut off the sleeves and sew/pin them to the inside of the sleeves of the dress.
Oh yeah, and pin/sew some straps to a stuffed cat and wear it as a backpack.
And then of course she wears her hair with two little strands tied back behind her head. That's an easy hairstyle.

mehehe. mind keeps changing. keep getting kawaii ideas. today, Mikan Sakura (Gakuen Alice). tomorro, who knows??

I'm so sorry everyone. I have yet another question. I REALLY love Gakuen Alice and would love to cosplay as Mikan, but it seems GA is "obscure" (at least from what i have read...) Is it? if i cosplayed as Mikan, would i be recognized?
