I've never read any of her work, but I have heard of it. The Ship Who Sang sounds like a must-read.

Hooo dang. My mom is a huge fan- she's going to be so sad!

She was an old fart, it was expected.

This is sad. :( I checked my Goodreads and I have read 15 of her books, so she will be very much missed.

I've only read 3 of her Dragonkeeper books. I guess now I don't have to worry about keeping up anymore.

You do now her son had co-written the last three books she did, and is continuing the series, right? Yeah.... You still gotta keep up!

Except my mom is an avid reader of the Dragonriders series, and it's consistently good, unlike the Dune series. Apparently her son is a pretty stellar writer, himself.

I stopped reading before The Dolphins of Pern (altlhough I think I actually started with The Masterharper of Pern) so it is good news that it is still good. It will make it worth while to get back into the series at some point.
