Catpeople?

Is there some anime I'm missing out on or something? Because catpeople seem to be really, really popular these days o_O I see them all the time...more specifically, catgirls.

So what do you guys think is cool about catpeople? Not trying to start a fight, I just want to know what's up with all the kitty ears XD

in japan they incorporate animal behavior to humans as a means of expressing a characters personality. take for example, the female doctor in rouroni kenshi is showed sometimes with fox ears, coz shes one hot fox :red:

. so when an anime creators trying to make catpeople, that means his trying to make that character cute and bubbly ( like a cat).

I hope I made my point and made sense... :dizzy:

I think they are cool, because I like cats in general.

Why are they so pervasive? Well, most dog people are just goofy ("I'm a mog!" :lol:

), so they have to come up with some other animal/human hybrid.

hmmm... it seems they're a acceptable race in fantasy genres...see FF11, and just are so cool overall, and in some cases its just a facial expression of theyre feelings.Umm... personally as a writer I have one in my story thats a genetic crossover... but she can transform between cat and catgirl forms, so its kinda like nuku nuku in a way.

Well there's Merle from Escaflowne, Ichigo from Tokyo Mew Mew, Felicia from Dark Stalkers, the entire Loveless series (though it's shounen ai. o_o;;; ), Digi Charat, kitty people are everywhere!

I'm not for the scantily clad catgirl (for obvious reasons), but I love kitty boys! So cuddly! :hug:

Maybe THAT'S why I have an entire legion of them living in my head. ^^;

Cat people, called "Neko" in Japan, is popular for some reason. It baffles me too. :drool:

I Guess it's because the neko girls are a bit clad on the bare side, for an obvious audience.
(Quick Rant: Why do people enjoy seeing gratituous drawings of such? I mean, it's not even real. Then again, some people...)

cat-girls are cute^^ especially to those anime female charas who act like cat-girls in order to get away with something bad they just did.^.^ or just trying to be cute to an angered person. =3

most of CLAMP works use SD catgirls like the ones in MKR and whatnot.^^

I kinda don't see waz up w/ cat-girls either.....aren't they suppose to be really lazy and whatnot? Jk jk....they just look hot. Mixing a girl and a cat makes an adorable little new hybrid because both cats and girls are really cute. I think they're kinda over-used.....that's why I have created a half tiger half human to kill those fluffly little over acting unrealistic so-called people!! (no one take that seriously pls....)

I think cat girls are popular because it's considered attractive in Japan for a girl to be childish, happy, and ditzy. There are anthropomorphic males too, but did you notice how most of them are more animal than the female counterparts? At least, the ones made by men. Inu Yasha seems more the traditional Japanese Anthropomorphic character, having only ears and a couple other features of a dog, but he was made by an 女の人．．．

It's not as common, but some manga have characters that are more animal than the traditional "catgirl." These are often called Furres by english speaking fans. They have entire bodies covered in fur, can be all sorts of animals, and will have more than just ears that are animal-like. I can somehow handle the cat ears, but the furry thing is too far for me...

Well I know that in some fantasy stories, there are races that are part animal, part human. In the series I'm working on with a friend there's a girl who's part white tiger, but if I'm remembering right she can change into her tiger person form from her human form that just somewhat resembles one.

*gloom* I...am so sorry!!!!!!!! *goes into overly dramatic sorry and gloomy pose* please forgive me for being just another cat person and making all the dog people feel akward!!!!!!!!! GOMEN NASAI(very sorry)!!!!! *commits seppuku* ....*rivives self* haha..I think I got alittle bit carried away...*sweatdrop* but anyway I actually have been neko chan long before I was into anime. An old friend who was Japanese (her name was Yumi) gave me that nickname because she said I riminded her of a cat! Pluss I love animals and used to have like 10 cats ^^;; so heh that's my reasion for being neko chan! ^^;; though I'm not very bubbly I'm just alot like a cat pluss my eyes are green like cats eyes! XD
