I finally have myself a car! I found a 1990 Honda Accord Coupe for $1450.
It's gorgeous! Except that the seat won't move forward, cracked windshield, and the passenger door doesn't close right, and I have $50.70 until payday... XD Runs like a dream though!
I'm so happy XD Mom gave me a tank of gas!
I'll try and get pics.

Honda Accord, eh? Good choice. I've heard they are rather dependable cars if you take care of them. ^_^

I drive a 2000 Accord so I can attest to how reliable they can be. They also get good gas mileage.
Though, and this just might be my Accord or the model from that year, I've discovered that my car has a horrendous turning radius...yeah, it gets frustrating sometimes...

Really? If mine's that way, I won't notice since I've been driving a '99 Tahoe XD

Oh eheheh... It blows white smoke at start up. There's a slim chance that it isn't the head gasket... *head desk* Well, we'll see XD Still runs pretty good.

Freakin' sweet. I wish I had a Honda or something like that. Our 2000 Chevy S-10 is lame.
Yow, I hope it's not the head gasket!

Make sure that crack in the windshield doesn't spread.

Was driving my Mom's accord while I waited to get my new car (which I am driving as of this week). It was nice! Good cars. The later models are real mountain goats too. They hug the curves on mountain roads well.

That brings back memories of my friend who bought an accord from the 1980s. It had a neon pink/blue stripe on the side and everything. I still hold to the idea that the stripe made it go faster.
Congrats on the new car! I hope it works well for you, white smoke aside.

Now I've really done it.
I busted rods in my engine and oil is leaking out everywhere.
/oi.
Now I get to share the truck with mom and take her to work at 3/5/7 in the morning and then work 'til ten until I can replace the engine :X

Aw! That's a bummer. Did the mechanics know why the rods broke?

Well, I got it from a college guy. Mom thinks it's been raced- you know, red lined.
The dude ripped me off. I took it to my mechanic and found out it only have like half a quart of very very dirty oil. (That's why it didn't smoke.) It already had a weak cylinder- steam had come out of the chamber. My mechanic thinks that coolant and oil were mixing.
I can get a refurbished engine and have it installed for about less than $2000, so... it could be worse.
It was weird. My car has had a rough idle. A REALLY rough idle. I was heading home last night uphill and doing about 50 mph when the whole car started shaking. I punched the gas and it did not want to go nearly as fast and would shake at 2500 rpm. So I'm like... Yeah, something just went bad in that thar engine.
I'm gonna go ahead with getting an engine. It would be hard to find a decent enough car for $1800 anyway. And the place I'd be getting it from have very low mileage on their engines.

Sort of to make one point: redlining an engine isn't a problem if the engine is built for that. For example, I drive an '08 Honda Civic Si Sedan, and it's *definitely* built for that (Honda pretty much tacitly encourages it, because to get full horsepower you have to be just about riding the 8Krpm limit). Redlining is never *good* for an engine, but for some engines it is not considered *bad* per se.
On the other hand, Accords are not built for that ;-) unless it had a custom engine, which it sounds like it did not.
Also, your issue with shaking over a certain RPM also makes me think of either fuel injector problems, a wacky engine mount, or both.

The shaking came with a big loss of power too :\ The whole thing just suddenly went "bleh."
Before, it only rattled when I was stopped at the light and such, in gear.
It having fuel injector issues wouldn't be surprising anyway XD
Yeah, it just had the stock 4 cylinder. Sure, the dials go too 9000 rpm and 130 mph, but you're never gonna use it XD It seems to me a cool yet comfortable car.
