Snake found with arm

Postby Momo-P » Sun Sep 20, 2009 2:17 am

"An elderly Chinese woman who discovered a snake with a clawed hand protruding from its body was so scared she beat it to death, according to reports.

Xiu Qiong Duan, 68, told the SINA Beijing news agency she woke up in the middle of the night to find the snake clinging to the wall of her bedroom.

"I woke up and heard a strange scratching sound ... at first I thought it was thieves" she said.

"I turned on the light and saw this monster working its way along the wall using his claw."

Ms Duan, from Suining in southwest China, said she then grabbed a shoe and beat the snake to death.

She reportedly preserved its body in a bottle of alcohol which she gave to the Life Sciences Department at China's West Normal University in Nanchang.

Snake expert Long Shuai said the discovery of the creature, which is 40cm long and the thickness of a little finger, was "truly shocking".

"We won't know the cause until we've conducted an autopsy," she said."

...wow. It looks...totally awkward. I mean, I guess that's fitting since snakes normally don't have legs, but sheesh, it's all big and bulky at the end. Just looks weird. I know some people are actually suggesting it swallowed something, though I kind of doubt that (then again I'm no snake expert, so I suppose anything's possible).

LOL. Perhaps some religious experts will proclaim that God's curse on snakes is wearing off, and they're getting their limbs back.

Hah, good one, Strafe.

But yeah, that's crazy. My first thought is something it ate didn't want to be eaten all that much.

It reminds me of that parasite thing frogs can get that makes them sprout an extra limb.

Is it a bad thing that when I saw this thread, clicked on the link to the article, and saw the picture of the snake that I was reminded of Trog Dor?

.... -.- Boo~

Gah! That was horrible! Talk about creepy! It would be bad enough to be awoken by a snake, but then see that this snake does, in fact, have an arm. O.O Barfie!

Awesome. XD But seriously... what in the world is with that snake?! It's so creepy!!! Also... I don't get how the snake could climb the wall with only one claw... that makes me suspicious.

It's solid proof of the process of evolution! 'Cause, you know . . . snakes could really use one arm . . . to help them . . . adapt . . . to . . . nah.

Wonder what the arm tastes like.

Snake bones are so small that they aren't really that great to eat, but maybe the arm bones will be better.

Trogdor.. That's funny, Peanut. XD

But yeah, I also wonder how he was able to climb the wall with only one mutated arm thing.

New theory. It got in radiation or toxic waste? Eh? Eh?

I thought that at first too, but reread the article.

The snake wasn't climbing UP the wall, it was climbing ALONG the wall. That does make a difference (and does make more sense). XD

LOL. Perhaps some religious experts will proclaim that God's curse on snakes is wearing off, and they're getting their limbs back.

I thought similar things to this as well. Although the snake still keeps true to what God said (having one limb isn't gonna stop you from crawling on your belly...), I'm just waiting for some people to try and spin this in a negative manner. I'd also totally laugh if they came out and said "uh, sorry, this isn't a snake...it was just a lizard who was born with limbs missing..."

This this very moment? Probably the stuff it's stewing in.

I half expected to see a snake with somebody's arm or something reading this title, but I'm glad that it wasn't that.

And I can't help but wonder looking at this, you think it's legs (when snakes had them back then) were bigger, or looked almost just like that?

Lil_Ninja (post: 1346566) wrote:New theory. It got in radiation or toxic waste? Eh? Eh?

Not bad, but too far fetched I have to admit.

Better theory. A snake and some weird gecko or something got together and made this abomination.

Aren't snakes able to slither on walls and ceilings o.o? So, it climbing the wall with one claw (heehee, that rhymed) wouldn't be such an amazing thing :-? It would just be kinda dragging it along with it instead of actually using it to climb the wall :-?

And Mina Dear, it taste like chicken (lol) u_u Everything taste like chicken 8D~~~

Dudes, the first time I saw that thing, I wouldn't be pondering about what it entails theologically or scientifically... I would wonder how cool it would be as a pet! Who's ever had a one-legged snake before? :)
