We've arrived at the fifth checkpoint! To prevent mistakes, let's just say that Kura Ookami is out and everyone else from the fourth round is in.

And your fifth country is...(get that Google ready!!!)...

After a brief period of independence between the two World Wars, Latvia was annexed by the USSR in 1940. It reestablished its independence in 1991 following the breakup of the Soviet Union.

The first national song festival in Latvia was held in 1873 and has evolved into one of the most emotive events on the calendar. It's held every five years and climaxes with a giant choir singing in a huge open-air amphitheatre in the national capital.

Wow kaem, you're fast. Congrats on being the first through the fifth checkpoint. Give him a round of applause everyone! And galant came too. Awesome.

The religions of Latvia are Lutheran, Roman Catholic, and Russian Orthodox.

The literacy rate of Latvia (for people over 15) is 99.8%.

Latvia's environment has benefited from a shift to service industries after the country regained independence; the main environmental priorities are improvement of drinking water quality and sewage system, household, and hazardous waste management, as well as reduction of air pollution; in 2001, Latvia closed the EU accession negotiation chapter on environment committing to full enforcement of EU environmental directives by 2010

Well done to jman and alice for comming in! :) I know termyt hasnt checked in, but im not sure if he's the only one or not? At the moment i think galant and Keamerite will be in the final. Kae has been the fastest racer so far on a few checkpoints, but will he fail sooner than expected? There's only one way to find out! ^_^ *the crowd goes wild!*

Well, it was bound to happen sooner or later. I always get knocked out at about this point in the race, give or take a few rounds for when GP sets up the checkpoint in the early evening.

Here's an orgchart for the Latvian Navy, if you all are interested.

It was a good race, all. Keep it up. Since she was nearly eliminated by my mistake, I'm rooting for Alice!

And that's a wrap on the fifth Checkpoint! Everybody pat our favorite purple Termyt on the back, though. He's a worth adversary. (Not to mention the first person to sign up for round 5!)
