I've been wondering how some people make those animated ones...How do they do it? I mean, are they made with a special software? 'Cause I really want one...really!

I use a program whose name I've forgotten (eMNGa or something like that) to first create a MNG file, then I convert it to a GIF with ImageMagick.
(My method is probably more complicated than is necessary, so don't listen to me. ^_~ )

i use Adobe ImageReady, which i got as a pack with PhotoShop 6.0. i do all animated gifs manually. that is, frame by frame by frame. it takes more work, but i get more control.
but i usually don't like animated gifs that are too flashy, since a) they take time to load b) annoys while reading and last but not least c) i like still ones better.
just different artistic value, i suppose.

Well I have used Ulead GIF Animator. It is a really nice program in that it can help you to make simple stuff really fast. But there aren't many options for what you can do. You can do some interesting text effects using the Wizard though.
