A mushroom is a fungus.

I imagine it could get infested by another one though...

Yes they can.

There's actually one kind of mushroom that is only identified as a new type because of the fungus growing on it. I mean, it may be a normal mushroom, but it doesn't get that new name unless it's covered with the other fungus. It's red. I think it's called lobster mushroom or something... It was on Iron Chef recently.

Most mold doesn't transform your ordinary food into gourmet ingredients, though. ;)

I don't know how you can *not* do weird stuff to the dishes when they start 'em out with things like crab or roe and the people are all trying to make ice cream out of it and stuff. xD

And even if it's weird, the judges act like it's fun anyway.

"Oh, what a delicious BBQ'd fish eyeball you made. Oh, the texture is wonderful. So exquisite. I feel like a little child again."

And at that point, you wonder what was wrong with their childhood. ._.;

Mushroooooommmms! all shall love them and dispair!!!

seriously though, mushrooms r great. they go well with many dishes like raw octopus and various raw seafoods..... or just about anything.

i assume that a moldy mushroom with be like a mushroom inside a mushroom. mmmm double layered mushroom.
