mosin nagant

im looking for a classic rifle for markmenship. i love the classic rifles such as repeaters and ww2 rifles. but looking for a decently accurate gun i have found the mosin nagant. anyone know if these are decent, how much do they cost, and do you have any other suggestions for me?

ok will do. i just have a thing for classic guns wether it be revolvers repeaters or such.

The mosin is a fine weapon - I own one, myself. It is very well balanced and easy to fire. Mosins are known for their accuracy, but there are several different styles ranging from around $100 to $600 (sniper version). Most versions were issued with a bayonet with a matching serial number. These rifles are designed to fire with the bayonet on and the matching bayonet is recommended for best accuracy.

Another rifle I've found to be more than adequate is the British Enfield. It is another well balanced and accurate rifle that goes for around $150 for either a number one mark three or a number four mark one, both are very good weapons and you may find the 303 ammo easier to obtain than the 7.62 mm rounds for the mosin.

i have a mosin nagant it was made in 1921 and is an ex-dragoon model. its fun to shoot but the sights are off and refuse to drift which annoys me to no end. they cost 70-80 bucks and can be very accurate, mine is but the sights are hard to drift and it cost a fortune to get a proper scope for them. theyre also old so like on mine youd have a chance at getting one with throat erosion, which means if you shoot any cheap (chech steal cased) ammo you'll get jams bad groups, and posibly have a rifle thats useless.

the enfield is also easy to get at similar prices and can be very accurate and fun to shoot, they also have a good selction of scope mounts, some that dont need drilling or tapping. but you should look around for one in good condition so that it too will have a bright bore and good chamber. and even if you chamber does turn out to be wore out enough to cause poor groupings you could always have them reamed out to the 7.62x54R.<this conversion typiclly runs 160-200 bucks)

theres also the k31 swiss rifle they cost about 80 bucks and from all ive heard have great accuracy, they have numerous scope mounts to choose from its only draw back is its ammos alittle more expensive than either the mosin or the enfield
ive never had experiance with them but its also one of the rifles i desire to own.

one last rifle is the turkish mauser these have shown up recently, in very good condition. ive heard theyre very reliable and accurate but if you get one you should have the head space cheked or theres the posiblity that you might injure yourself. (i.e. reciever explosion)

persoanlly my favorite rifle is the yugo sks 59/66 its very accutare and very fun to shoot, i realise its not a bolt action but, it is my favorite and most accurate it'll easily put a round in a 2 inch target at 100 yards with open sights

thanks you answered about everything i had to ask. i recently saw a kit for a m39 mosin nagant that makes it be able to shoot dragunov ammo. and the only other thing i could ask is do you know of any good reapeters that arent a fortune but accurate?

the Mosin Nagant, Kar98K and the Lee-Enfield

yeah i know about those what im wanting info on now (out of curiosity) is old wild west style repeaters (you know were they are plunger fed to a chamber under the barrel (dont know what this is called but my current gun a .22 has it) and to load a round into the chamber you pull straight down on the trigger guard (it and a huge peice) pull down and load a round in. the repeater)

ok lever action then. i have always loved them but prefered ww2 rifles. i wonder if they are comparable to the likes of a mosin nagant , mauser, or enfield

all mosins fire dragnov ammuntion the 7.62X54R, leaver actions are nice but expensive.
