Amazing Race Season 2 - The Finale

Postby Godly Paladin » Thu Dec 02, 2004 3:58 pm

Okay, guys, this is what we've been waiting for! The two racers that have risen above the competition to reach this round are: *fanfare*

Mr. Smartypants and Mangafanatic!

Everybody give it up for these two! They have earned it!

THE RULES FOR THE FINALE ROUND ARE:

I am going to post a country. A racer will check in by posting a fact. When that racer does so, the other racer has 24 hours to respond by posting another fact. After the second racer checks in, the first will have 12 hours to respond. You get the idea. With each fact, the time that the other racer has to respond gets halved. (And rounded a bit in some cases.) 6 hours, 3 hours, 1.5 hours, 45 minutes, 22 minutes, 11 minutes, 5 minutes, 2.5 minutes, 1 min, 30 seconds, 15 seconds, 7 seconds, 3 seconds...

If a racer either:

1) Fails to check in with a fact before the time limit expires
2) Checks in an incorrect fact
3) Checks in a fact that has already been posted
4) Can't check in a fact

That racer is eliminated and the other wins. I think that about says it, so without any further ado let's get this finale underway!

*****************

AND THE FINAL CHECKPOINT IS: IRAN!!!

With every smily that fits:  :thumb:   :jump:

I'm no eastern time too! Yee ha! Atleast that's not a problem!

Iran is 1.64 million square miles.

Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Oh, man. I have this rivalry thing and everything going with Osaka and she doesn't even win?

But seriously, congratulations Mr. SmartyPants. Good work - you've earned it.

O_o That was over a lot faster than the last one...

The times and facts have been checked and we have a winner! MR. SMARTYPANTS!!! I'll be PMing you the victory banner that Sam*Ron kindly made for us. And give a hand to Osaka for being the runner up!

Here's a wrap up question for ALL racers: what do all the countries in this race have in common?

Wait a minute! His last fact wasn't a geography fact, was it? Doesn't that violate the rules which is one of the means by which you can be eliminated?

I think his fact is valid. It doesn't have to be about geography - I was posting facts about population and literacy. I think politics is in bounds, too. Of course, Godly Paladin is the final judge.

In which case, I would like to offer you my deepest congratulations. Thou hath been a worthy opponent, and I hath done my math wrong on how long I had to post my next fact.

I see that I have to make an MC decision here, or at least clarify. Yes, Mr. Smartypants' facts were legit. Capitals have been used since the beginning of the race, and Presidents have been used as well.
