Anyone Going To Neko Con?

Postby ashfire » Sat Oct 16, 2004 6:15 pm

Just wondering who is going to be at Neko Con. I will be working with the first aid group like I have since I went to my first show which was Neko Con #2 and #4 and since then. I won't be hard to spot because I dress the part for medical operations.

Where is it?
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Anyway, it seems that Nekocon is at the Chesapeake Convention Center in Chesapeake, Virginia. Hey, wait a second...

VIRGINIA?! I LIVE IN VIRGINIA!

*Regains senses* Apparently from the 5-7 of November.

I think I might be going, actually...

^_^ I'm not, but my friend from the Tales of Symphonia forums, Lord Fawkes Garde, is. If you see someone who's asian and dressed in red with a bunch of buttons on his shirt, and carrying around a blue and red sword, that's probably him. If you see him, tell him Morwen says hi!

With a message that i just read on the staff emails for Neko Con, they may need a Moral Squad. A person or vendor has them worried after checking their website about a comic that they put out. They said the website uses alot of four letter words to tell about their products.
They have a rule to keep certain actions and language out of public areas of the con so I know the staffers and also myself will be on the look out for such things happening.
Cons always need help with staffing and this year some people have had to bow out because of different things.
The one thing the con management is worried about is the fact that the 700 club operations is close by and don't want to have problems because of someones actions.
The con has always kept it all on the family level for it to run the show.
