No flaming. *is walking around with a fire extinguisher strapped to back* A moderator will be contacted if this gets out of hand (I don't think it will, but just in case, you know?).

I don't since I have a very loveable pet snake, but there are a lot of people at my church who think that snakes are demons/satanic/etc. What do you guys think? Just wondering...

I don't think they are evil. In the bible, Satan is represented by a snake, but that doesn't mean regular ones are. Come on, they are just animals. (no offense Heart of Sword)

I don't think snakes are evil, though i see them as a bad pets. My parents used to own 2 pythons and they don't do much. But if you want a pet that doesn't need to much care a snake is your best bet. And personal opinion birds (cockatoos) are the worst pets, they squawk all day... ahh... :(

change churches... okay, so I am just kidding here.:P

Seriously though, in the account of Genesis the serpant seemed to be walking about on legs, since he was cursed to go on his belly after the incident. I mean, it could have originally been a reptile like a Komodo dragon or something. And then, the serpent is cursed first, then the woman, and don't I know about that curse. ] (Yes, I have pictures of him. ^_^)
I want to see the pictures! :jump: Snakes are cute.

YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

Satan could of just as easily appeared in the form of a badger instead of a snake. Remember when Jesus transferred the demon from the man into the swine well pigs aren't evil either.

I agree that I don't think snakes are evil. My mom never let me own a snake but my cousins had 2, a guy and girl and well they had babies and so... to make it short there were a lot of snakes at there house  One time the babies got loose and they were everywhere... another time I was spending the night and one of the snakes got out of it's cage and slithered it's way into my bed and curled around my feet... I woke up and was like :wow!: calm down.. don't kick the snake.. cause I was still so young and kinda, well scared. anyway I think snakes are cool

Not evil. Just yucky. (no offense.)
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

I don't think snakes are evil. Just like I don't think cats and bats are evil (and yes there is a misconception in some parts that cats are evil).

Personally I think bats are cute (well some species anyway). And some snakes are beautiful (I love the banana boas). I'm not afraid of them like some people, but I don't care to encounter one in the wild either :eyeroll:

I think snakes are beautiful creatures. I love them, even the poisonous ones. Cobras are cool. XD XD I told you I'm an animal lover hehe.

My friend has 3 pet snakes, 2 pink/white corn snakes and 1 python. I've played around with them before, they can be nice pets if you know how to care for them. The only things you might have to endure is feeding them the frozen baby mice. ^__^;

But no, I don't think snakes are evil.

I love garden snakes. the little ones. They are so cute.

At grandparent's house, we had as a pet for two days (then we set it free of course!) It was always tame and never tried to bite, unless it felt you were afraid. But when I handle it, it was always calm and cute and just slithered in my hands.

So small! So cute! XD

No, I don't think snakes are evil anymore than I think women are. :P I like them actually. Big ones need to be *behind* the glass, though. :P A little non poisonous one would be a nifty pet, though.

I've always had a phobia of snakes. They just freak me out. If I see one in my yard, I will not hesitate to kill it.

On a side note, they can be dangerous pets. I've heard one story of a woman who's giant pet snake escaped and tried to have her for a midnight snack. She woke up with the giant snake wrapped around her with his mouth firmly attatched to her bottom. Her husband had to call the fire department, who immediately arrived and had to chop off the snake's head.

Again, if you like them, that's fine with you, but I really don't recommend ever keeping one for a pet.

I don't see how snakes could possibly be evil. I have had a few of them myself. A Florida Kingsnake, a couple ball pythons, and this one small albino snake with red eyes. he was cool.

Yojimbo wrote:Satan could of just as easily appeared in the form of a badger instead of a snake...

hmmm....interesting....

1 Now the badger was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? 2 And the woman said unto the badger, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: 3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. 4 And the badger said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

Snakes are most certainly not evil! I've had an odd fascination with them since I was little, but my mom never let me have one because she thinks they're disgusting. I'd love to have a snake one day, though. ^_^

I don't think that snakes are evil. They're just animals like birds or something...I just think snakes should be free and not kept in captivity (translation: I think they should stay outside so they could not potentially bite people, i.e. people meaning me.) o_o I've got something of a snake phobia. ACK! Snakes are horrible, creepy little creatures! My dad used to keep them in a tank and they had such evil little eyes. I think they were, in fact, Satan... Okay, so not Satan, but I really do hate those little invertebrates. I have a slight phobia which involves squealing at the sight of one. lol

Snakes have vertebrae. Therefore, they are not invertebrates.

My snake, Zekes, is too smart to bite me. I got him when he was a hatchling, about half the size of a pencil. He slithered up to my hand in the pet store and bumped his nose against it; I instantly fell in love. He's 4 1/2 feet long now and adores me. He only bit me once, but that was because he was shedding (so he was blind) and he thought that I was one of his frozen mice (it was also feeding day). As soon as he bit me, he let go and buried his face in the shavings. I had to coax him out.

He likes to hide in my shirt...he wraps around my neck, then carefully lowers himself into my sleeve and curls up in it.

Maybe that python bit the owner's rear because she didn't get him as a baby and fed him live animals or something...that can make them aggressive. Anyway, Zeke's not dangerous. :)
