What's your favorite season?

Postby Esoteric » Sun Sep 19, 2004 11:18 am

Where I live, today felt like the first day of autumn. I love, autumn; it's my absolute favorite season. The air just has a crisp freshness and the land feels sleepy and content as the temperatures cool.

It was also C.S. Lewis' favorite season. I remember reading a quote, (I don't remember where exactly) in which he compared autumn, to an aging person's life. They both have a fullness about them and a richness of experience, and yet sadly, neither last.

I wish I could remember the exact quote. If someone knows it, I'd love to hear it again.

What's your favorite season, and why?

I like all of the seasons, as each has its special events, its own foods, and its own particular beauty in terms of foliage, color and weather.

However, I do have a favorite season...fall, but ONLY because my birthday is in the fall. :)

I like winter very much! Winter is my favorite. Autumn is a good second favorite for me, though.

fall is very nice but it's often short-lived or non-existent around here...haha. I love winter. something about a sunny day + cold air just feels nice. and in the winter I can always bundle up or drink something hot to warm up...it's not that easy to cool off in the summer. and also, winter = no bugs! Oh man....I love the spring. After 5 months of cold, spring is really special.

I always get a case of Spring Fever.

I love summer, mainly because I love really warm weather and all the activities you can do. Autumn is nice, but for me...autumn=back to school. XD But it feels wonderful sitting in the sun right after you get done swimming. ^^

Yes autumn is really the best of the seasons
and I'm not sure that old age isn't the best part of life.
But of course, like the Autumn it doesn't last.

I also love the autumn. After a very hot summer I really appreciate so much the cooler weather.

I love the winter. It's cold, and most of the time it's overcast ( i dont like sunny weather) and the moon seems clear out. I also love the silence of Winter and you can't hear a sound save for birds and the crunching of snow....well where I live you can't as much. But even in busy parts, thiers a quietness.

I also like Autumn. This is my memories season. I have tons of memories that I remember from looonnng ago. My city has a festival every fall (kinda like a Harvest Festival) and it goes all weekend. For me that kicks off Fall. So to me it's Fall now (cause it was this weekend :) )

I love how winter can be overcast. I also love how the sun can be shining brightly on your cold face and make you feel good instead of hot and sweaty. I love how people act in the winter. They just seem different. Everything feels new and exciting! There's just something in winter that makes me thrilled and content at the same time. Especially when it's snowy. I think I really missed that, living in Arizona for a few years. Now I live in New Jersey, and it's just starting to get the winter mood. I can't wait! ^_^

Winter hands down, I love snowstorms ... and all the awesome things you can only do in the snow (ski, snowmobile, skate, ice fishing, tubing, snowmen, snowball fights, snow forts, throwing siblings and friends around, etc.). And no bugs ... no bugs is really good. Fall would be okay too but fall=harvest=hard manual labor and extreme business so it really serves to highlight the beauty of the carefree winter days in which there is no harvest or planting (hehehe life on the farm which I conveniantly avoided by being away this year.)

Wow, a lot of fall/winter people and only a few spring/summer.

Yeah cold weather is better! Well okay, maybe not below twenty.
But for you spring lovers, I will say it's probably my second favorite season. ;)

I definitely like Fall best, and Winter second. In Fall, it's not wet, it's not hot (but not too cold), the trees are pretty, and my birthday, Halloween and Thanksgiving (not to mention Reformation Day! :P) are all happening. It's a pretty cool time.

The Holiday Season Between Halloween and Easter... skiing, gifts, candy, fun and fellowship. Snow and all the great cool weather (SoCal on a 99 degree day is not my favorite thing), and Disneyland does all that cool Holiday stuff.

Autumn, without a doubt. The general feeling is crisp, and the temperature (I speak, of course, only for my location) is absolutely perfect. Also, I like grey skies and clouds in general, both of which are fairly common in the fall.

Fall - school = my favorite season.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

This is one of the hardest questions I can face. I can answer it well...but not with a definite answer!!! @.@;;; I like ALL OF THEM!!! I love winter because the I love playing in the snow with my whole family and ABSOLUTELY LOVE that Christmas-y feeling buzzing around...::sigh::..and at church that CHRIST WAS BORN!!!! feeling....But then...it's soooo cold. I really don't like being cold. A lot. So I wish it would be summer already...And I love spring because the whole world around me is BLOSSOMING and beautiful...but I have allergies....^^u And I love summer because school gets out, the sun is shining like an orange, and it's sooo warm!!! But...sometimes it gets so hot that I wish it would be winter already...haha....And I looooove autumn cuz Thanksgiving is coming near which means mashed potatoes...and all the bugs are gone....and it's just sleepy...^^ Soooo that's why I like ALL of them!!!!! <3 <3 <3

Yeah. Besides, extreme cold means warm blankets and hot cocoa! Extreme heat means sticky sweat and not being able to use much air conditioning because you don't want to run up the bill. The no bugs reason was a good one, too. I hate bugs in my house.

I love autumn the best. Nice cool weather and the sun is out with a pretty blue sky. Leaves changing colors and high school and college football is in the air.

I like and dislike winter. I don't like the short days and coudy weather. But if its sun and blue sky day, then I like it.

Those are some of the best days to work with photography.

Summer would be fine if it wasn't for the hazy skies and very hot weather.

I like Spring and Autumn, although I used to get slightly depressed in the fall, but that's because I had to go to school and put up with all my doofy classmates. College is a lot better in that sense....Not ALL of my classmates are doofy. lol

Spring is beautiful, because it represents new life and things starting over again, like the birth of a baby or the spiritual new birth of a Christian.

Fall is beautiful because of all the colors. It represents that as Christians, we'll be alive w/Christ when we die, and we'll still be beautiful.

OKAY, OKAY, those were all mushy. SO WHAT?! *Don't...want...DRAMA. NO!*

Whatever. The real reason is that I like the average temperatures of those seasons better than the extremes of summer and winter. 50's, 60's, and 70's beat the 10's, 20', 30's, 90's, and 100's any day of the week.
He who walks with integrity walks securely, but he who perverts his ways will become known.--Prov. 10:9

Of course there are things that I like (and some that I love, like Christmas) about every season, my favorite is probably Fall. First, my birthday is in the Fall (and not too far away at that ;) ). I appreciate the cool weather (it doesn't really get cold until late November) after the hot and humid summer. Fall is also the time when most of the blockbuster games are released (especially this year). If only I had time to play them all... :(

Although some people are unconfortable with it, I like Halloween, which is in the Fall. Lots of candy, horror movies, and a general acceptance of scary things for one day out of the year. Then there is Thanksgiving, which I also like (even moreso now that I am in college, since the semester ends pretty soon after it).

Winter used to be my favorite season, until I had to walk 15 minutes to class each day in the frigid air :P . That is exacerbated by the fact that my college is extremely parsimonious about calling snow days :shady: . Still, the snow is beautiful; and there it is hard to beat the feeling of bundling up in tons of blankets every night.

In the Spring, I like the fact that school ends (getting out in May is much better than June  ); as well as the Easter holiday. The weather resembles that of Fall, except with the knowledge that it will be followed by the scorching days of summer.

In the summer, there is no school. I usually get to do some kind of physical labor, while at the same time having plenty of time to play all of the games I can afford to buy  . I also enjoy going to the beach, which my family does every summer.
