Living at home?

I'm 17 and I'll be living at home until this upcoming fall when I will move out forever and attend college! YES!

I lived at home until I was 22, and then I got accepted to medical school and moved out.

I lived with my parents while I went to a local university last year, but this year I transferred to a new college 5 hours away, so I live in a dorm. My parents pay for my food, my rent, my books and my insurance, but I do have a full load of college work and a graphic design job which takes up a good chunk of my time. I only come home twice a semester.

So I guess I'm mostly on my own; maybe that makes me a mutant?

Option #1 for me. We all, (Dad, Mom, Brother & me) live & work together. Grandma's lives w/ us to, (she's the self proclaimed "boss") Ah well. I guess we're like those old fashioned families who stick together through thick & thin.

Reminds me of the Filipino tradition of having the family live in the same (or close to another) home. Culturally, even though it's necessary to leave the nest, family closeness still exists to be a priority. A lot of my own relatives live just a few blocks away from each other, while one family has a son, his wife and brother, the son's mother, and her grandchildren living in the same house.

I am over 20 and live with my parents. Whilst I can afford to rent outside, it'd leave me with very little savings left after all the bills are paid for, possibly not enough left to pay for my studies.

Then there's also the need to save up what I can now for my future family and home (that castle in Sweden looks good).

I contribute towards the financial upkeep of our home. So, does this mean I am not freeloading?

you're right, ultra magnus... freeloading is a poor choice of words on my part concerning those including myself who still live at home after graduation... for one thing, it would be a waste of money in many circumstances to move out and pay rent somewhere else five minutes away, and also there are a lot of new responsibilities that one bears by still living with family... thanks for catching that

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay over 20 and no longer living at home. I would if I could though. Do you realize all of the things that are magically taken care of by living at home?

Over 20 and on my own. I wouldn't live back at home even if I could. I live in a house with a bunch of other people really close to my campus and I'm really enjoying it. Nothing wrong with home, but living on my own has taught me a lot about those "things that are magically taken care of by living at home." Plus I can cook really well now.
