CAA's 2011 Q&A with Vic Mignogna!

Postby Mithrandir » Sat Jul 09, 2011 8:27 am

Hey everyone!

We've got some exciting news for you guys... Christian anime voice actor Vic Mignogna is going to be participating in an audio Q&A interview with CAA! We're asking any members who want to participate to post their question here in this thread by Friday, 7/15/2011. Mith will write some code to select a bunch of your questions at random and Vic will answer them during our interview. If your question is picked, we may contact you via PM to give you an opportunity to email Mith an audio recording for your question, so that your own voice can ask your question (note: we're optimistic we can do this, but if things get tight we may have to scale this one back!)

Some of the roles you may know Vic from include Edward Elric from Full Metal Alchemist and Tamaki Suoh from Ouran High School Host Club, along with over a hundred other rolls. Be sure to check out Vic's wikipedia page for more information and a list of roles:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vic_Mignogna

Vic has also had various intereactions with CAA from time to time. Some of you may recall:

We're all pretty excited about this opportunity, so thanks a million, Vic!!!

Well, everyone: lay down your questions here and we'll ask as many as we can!

Yay! God has once again been kind to CAA by letting Vic come again!!! Ask him how he survives in such a secular community (the anime community!) God bless!

OK, my questions for Vic.
1. How did you find God? Was your family Christian or did you have some sort of epiphany?
2. Out of all the roles you've played, which anime character is your favorite and why?
3. Who is your favorite Christian writer?
4. Who is your favorite Biblical figure, besides Jesus?
BTW, I have no method to record my voice, so you can just read my questions to him, please.
Also, will you be posting a transcript. I doubt I'll actually be able to participate for real.

1. Who is your favorite non-Christian writer?
2. What are your favorite animes?
3. What is your favorite line of Edward Elric?

Omgoodness, it's so...exciting to be able to actually ask a famous person questions! :jump: I don't really know what else to ask. XD

Oh, I'm gonna throw a suggestion in here. If it was asked in the ANN interview you might avoid it just for the sake of asking him some new questions. I haven't noticed anything like this yet, but it might make for a better interview to keep this in mind.

1. How do you keep from getting burned out?
2. What is the strangest/most awkward thing a fan has ever said to you?
3. How did you get into this line of work?
4. What do you like to do to relax/in your spare time?

I am so excited!! I also have no way to record my voice and am also hard of hearing, so I also wish to ask if there will be a transcript of this.

I got to talk to Vic once at Oni-Con in Houston --he's a really nice guy. And actually was one of the handful of people with a brain at the con in regard to my service dog --he talked directly to me, didn't address the dog--very professional. Whereas others at the con (other than other voice actors and staff)...well, not so much.

This is awesome. This is so cool since I didn't get the chance (or time) to meet him at AX this year. So, here we go...

1. Have you ever read a manga of the anime adaption you've voiced for? (for example, like Fullmetal Alchemist or Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle).
2. Have you ever been offered to be in an anime that conflicted with your faith, and if so, what did you do?
3. Have you ever had the opportunity to witness to someone at an anime convention?
4. How was your experience at Anime Expo AX 2011?
5. Do you have a favorite hymn? If so, which one is it?

That's all I got for now. I'm so excited about this! ^.^

Jeepers! Really? This is AWESOME. Like, awesome enough that I'm going to put a line of happy dancing bananas in.
:dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance:
I DO have a question, but I don't really want my voice on the internets just yet. *sigh*
Sadly, I can only come up with one right now. I've watched plenty of con panel videos, including the rumors panel from this forum here which answered a lot of my questions.
I guess I'll post my question. But just to let Mith know, they can only be used if the audio thingy doesn't work out. Sorry. =(

Anywho, here's the question:

What was the weirdest line you've ever had to say while voice acting (and which character was it)?

Hey Guys!
Because I kind of do this a lot, (worked in journalism) I'm willing to post a transcript of the interview sometime after it is released. So don't fret :).

Also remember, to read the transcript of the last Chat we had with him attached to Mith's post to avoid duplicate questions. :) (Example: Vic answered how he came to Christ during his last chat with us)

ok fangirl time over.

Questions:

Which do you enjoy more- music, live action acting, or voice acting?

I've heard that you sometimes do 'church' services at cons. How has that been going, and do you have any tips for anyone who wishes to do the same [as in have a kind of church service at a con]?

What Bible verses give you the most strength and encouragement as you involve yourself in the anime world?

How do you deal with the amount of anti-Christian atmosphere at conventions?

and one last not-so- serious question:
How's Michele? :3 Congrats on your engagement!

Yipeeee! WOW! This is really some exciting news! And we get to ask questions.

My question would be:
Vic, do you have any specific prayer requests that you would like your brothers and sisters to be praying for you?
"Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent."John 17:3 (NASB)
"By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”John 13:35

Small problem here:
I tried to open the transcript of the 2005 chat, but it keeps loading about 14kb and then gets "interrupted" (I'm on Google Chrome).
I've tried about five times and it does the same thing every time.
Is anyone else having problems?

Also, is this the right thread to post this? I thought of posting it on the original thread but it's six years old. 0.o

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

After trying it in Chrome and getting the same result as you, I have no idea what the trouble is (I usually use firefox which worked like a dream downloading it). I could shoot it to you in a PM? It's not terribly long. But that's the only solution I see for now unless Mith or Shooby can work their magic. :\

Hmm... It worked just fine for me. Maybe try right-clicking on the document and using "save as" to see if that works?

Definately interested! Yes!

If I had to ask Vic any question, it would be how did he get into anime in the first place and for how long as he been an anime fan.

Also, which character did he have the most fun voice acting as.

Thanks for the help guys! Sadly, it didn't work; it does the same "interrupted" thing.
I DID find a solution though: Open it in Internet Explorer. (How did I not think of this at first?! >.<)
I suppose it's just a Chrome thing. Since Goldenspines could open it in Firefox and I in Explorer.
Thanks again for the help. ^_^

I don't want to record my question, but I'll post it anyways.

Is it possible for someone wanting to go into voice acting and possibly work for Funimation to get a tour of the studio?
"But, you know, there's something I believe. I want to try and live my life carrying all of my memories with me. And even if those memories are painful, even if they do nothing but hurt me, I want to keep them, even those memories I wish I could sometimes forget. As long as I carry them with me, as long as I can keep holding on, then someday, someday I'll be strong enough that those memories don't hurt me anymore and I'll be glad that I have them. That's what I believe with all my heart. That's why all of my memories are precious to me. I don't think it would be okay to forget a single one." ~Momiji

*Fangirl scream!!!!!!!!!!!!!* Ok, Vic-sama, I'm good.

Anyway, questions...

1.) What do you like to do in your free time when you're not acting?
2.) What was your favorite childhood tv show?
3.) What was your favorite childhood toy?
4.) How much anime merchandise do you have?
5.) How have you been doing in your walk with the Lord?
6.) How many times have you been proposed to by fangirls?
"And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.
But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus." 1) If you could make one wish (and no, you can not wish for more wishes), what would you wish for and why?
2) What's your most played song on iTunes?
3) What was the last experience you had, good or bad, that made you stronger in your faith?
4) If you had to change your first name, what would you change it to?

Aren't these kinda the same question?

I'm excited to see it. Unfortunately, I really don't have any questions for Vic... hmm, actually;

Ok, if someone saw you and gave you a mild reaction such as; "Oh hey Vic!" where as if they saw Travis or any other voice actor and they freaked out completely, how would you react or feel about it?

*chuckles* I wonder if this counts. Oh, also, I have no way to record my voice. XD; >>;
