I think I spend too much time, on the internet, and I don't really know what to do about it. Do I just stop going on the internet completely, or do I need like a time limit?

You're not laughing, are you?

I'm not laughing...just chuckling inside

So what's wrong with the internet? Everything is on it. You can shop, work, play, and talk to people through it. I know it's possible to spend too much time on it, but I doubt that you actually are. Most people who think they do actually don't.
As long as you actually do get some human contact and into direct sunlight once in a while, you're ok.

Meh, I have the same problem. I would recommend, yes, a time limit. But trust me, they're hard to fallow. ^^;; I think Rach's idea was good.

you wanna hear a problem...I spend on a good day...usually up to 6 hours on the internet (on weekends)...on weekdays...up to 4 hours.

Not added on witht he computer time I have. Though my hours are starting to go down cause my sister is at a phase where she's talking online and on the phone and all that kind of pre-teen stuff :shady:

The internet is impersonal, anonymous, with fewer natural boundries, and very deceiving about it's safety... Those are all things that are wrong with the internet... If you spend too much time on the net... Wait, I need help there too... Sorry, I'm in the same boat right now... I should be doing homework...

Never mind the internet; I sometimes wonder if I just spend too much time on the computer. (Not laughing at you, Nia-chan; just at myself.)

I spend a lot of time on the internet too, and I'm not laughing at you...

Most of my friends are online. I still get out, but...when I'm not asleep or out with my boy, I'm on the computer.

 But everything's increasingly becoming Internet-dependant. Bills, registration, class lecture notes, computer assignments, credit card statements, downloadable music.....can we escape it?

I don't think I waste too much time in the Internet even though I do spend a lot of time on it (avg 4 hours a day?). I don't watch TV or movies. I mostly spend my free time drawing/reading manga, reading other books, cooking and hanging out with my friends (eating out or watching a DVD). So I still have a ...'healthy' life, I think. If I'm on the Internet, I'll either be posting at CAA or downloading manga scanlations :brow:

I think you need to ask yourself WHAT you do on the Internet rather than HOW LONG you spend on the Internet. Personally, I don't chat or play games on the Internet coz those are pretty time-consuming IMO . I used to surf for anime images but somehow I got tired of doing it. 0.o

Take a good long break from it (like a month) and then come back. The distance will give you some new perspective, and maybe some self-control when it comes to time limits. I did that when I was playing too many video games, and now I'm a bit better about not giving them too much of my time. (Unfortunately at the same time I also found this site and am probably fiving it too much time.) Maybe I need a break from this too. Hmm...self-control is tough I know, I'll pray for you. :)

As long as you are getting exercise, and not neglecting your duties (homework, chores, perhaps bible study time, etc.), I don't think that you need to cut back on your internet time.

I know my internet time greatly increased when I went to college, because the only chair in my room is placed right in front of my computer. It is easy to spend a lot of time on the internet, because there is a lot of valuable stuff on the internet.

If the internet is getting in the way of things that you should be doing, then you'll have to cut back. Either that, or be prepared to face the consequences, and know that they are your own fault.

When you feel you had enough, leave the computer. Works for me. Actually, it doesn't, because I don't usually feel I had enough of Internet. There's just SO MUCH stuff out there, I wish I had a bigger bandwidth...

*looks at his post count*

Heh heh.

Hmm... If you count the time I spend looking at the websites I'm building, I spend... Let's see... Carry the four... Um... 43 hours a day! Waitaminute... That CAN'T be right... OH! That's a 1, hmm.... Then its... WHOA. I acutally spend most of my waking life online. (Then again, sometimes I code in my sleep...)

I think I'll take a break right now.

*get's up. streatches*

OK. I'm back...

I too tend to spend a lot of time on the Net. If you do need a break, a good way to get one is to forget a password or two! ;) Uh.... not that I have.... uh.....

I'm not laughing. ^^ Just smiling. I do that a lot. ^^ I am online waaaay to much. ^^ Or, so I'm told. it's definately a good thing to not spend too much time online, like, forsakeing actually talking to real ppl, and\or neglecting yourself, your friends and family, and even God. ^^ *lol* I think totally stopping going online might be a bit extreme, but if it's really bothering you, make yourself a time limit, and have someone hold you accountable.
Love wins.

If you have trouble getting off the internet, here's a few suggestion:

1: You have a physical body, never forget that.
2: Place a spike 'neath your chair to.
3: When all else fails, GET AWAY FROM THE KONPYUTA.

I didn't laugh until I saw that last line you wrote, "You're not laughing, are you?"

Cute avatar, btw.

I find the internet relaxing, myself. Though I would discourage LIVING on it.

If you find you can go without it then there shouldn't be a problem. I personally spend a lot of time on the computer and the Internet here at school. But that is because I have a fast connection. At home we only have dial up. :( Since I can't stand dial up, I'm lucky if I check my e-mail once every few days. So I would say see if you can go without it! And if you can then it's all good! ;)
