Talk about anything in here.

Clogs? Abre I'm guessing you guys/gals in America refer to G-strings as thongs. Like tight underwear. But lets not go there.
I think thongs (as in flipflops) look great! They suite some people better than others but they shouldn't be worn to formal events I think. I don't really see a problem coming to church like that. Jesus accepts us as we are. But we also shouldn't dress badly by concious decision.

You were right in that other definition, yep.

There are degrees of formal. Those girls weren't dressed in ballroom gowns. With something like that, flip flops wouldn't really be appropriate, I think. More for the mental clashing than anything... satin and foam just don't seem to compliment each other well in such a situation. ;)

But the style they had seemed nice enough... and as long as they're nice flip flops that match well and aren't a year old, I think it's still ok... I wouldn't personally wear it, but I see no problem at all with them wearing more casual shoes.

I don't consider more minimal footwear necessarily dressing badly. Really, it's when church becomes a place to show off people's clothes that bothers me far more than if someone is wearing flip flops or a pullover or something that others happen to frown upon.

I didn't read ANY of the replies, but here is my 2 cents anyway.

I think that they should not have worn the sandals. There is no reason to make a big deal out of it. At the airport you don't HAVE to take off shoes, it is recommended for the lines to move faster (at least at Dulles and in Denver). odds are it slipped their mind when they were packing about what shoes to wear.

I don't think there is any point in making it big news or anything.

I think it's sad that this even made the news. Makes our country look ridiculous that we would be flabbergasted over flipflops.

It's been made apparent here that many people wear sandles/flipflops to church, so why different at the whitehouse? I'd wear my sandels there.

Besides, it's a sports team. You'd think even the most stuck up individuals would accept a sports team wearing flipflops.

It's one thing to be stuckup, but it's downright asinine to be offended by something like this.
"Destroy all that which is evil, so that which is good may flourish" - The Boondock Saints

"Man creates dolls in his own image. If God exists, it's possible that we're all just dolls to him." - Evangelion (episode 22)

You won't be able to.As soon as I am elected President I will do a Napoleon
and declare the United States an Empire and make myself Emperor for
Life!
As Emperor my first order of buisness will be to make Cartoon Network
run Sailor Moon,Outlaw Star,Gundam Wing and every other anime they
cancelled.
My second order of buisness is to outlaw fat and elderly women from
wearing pantsuits.
My third order of buisness will be to outlaw the wearing of sandals at
all Imperial Functions.
:thumb:
Of course if you want to know what my personal Imperial Body Guard
will look like just watch the first ep. of Geneshaft. :thumb:
