How many Pastor Kids are in CAA Main Body

Talk about anything in here.

I used to be an MK- missionary kid, which qualifies me to be a pk, but now i am a mpk- missions pastor kid. My dad takes care of mission trips, world awareness, plus a bunch of other things which I don't understand. He also is the minister to the seniors. SO you could say he's got his plate full.
My grandfathers were both pastors( and one still is). Plus, the one that still is a pastor used to be a missionary.

My mum's side of the family are all some form of a pastor or another.

O.o Does anyone else like there's pressure going along side with being closely related to a pastor?

Definitely, but I kind of try to ignore it. Sometimes there are impossible expectations, but it's hard to get people to realize that I, you, and anyone who is the son/daughter/whatever of a pastor is exactly the same as everyone else. I constantly get comments like "Oh no, he's a preacher's son so we don't want to offend him!" It's really....weird. I don't know.

yes, I'm a pastor's kid, my dad's been a part time pastor for a church I still keep in touch with for 5 years, but we moved away, but then he got a job 3 years ago to pastor full time at a small church here.

as for Talame's question, I have on a cupple of ocassions, I guess I'm blessed with being able to shrug off that notion most of the time, but there's been times in the last 3 years that I've felt. . . disconected from teens my age and above, I've actually never really made any friends that have stuck with me for more than 2 days, except here on CAA while I've lived here, so I guess that helps since I don't have any peer presure whatsoever, lol;; but I do feel I get judged easily by teens that actually know I exist and that I'm a PK lol, I remember I got invited to a birthday sleepover party at a girl from my church's house, I was kinda' estranged from the whole ordeal, but whenever one of the girl's friends would almost say something even slightly mean, she'd stop them and whisper to them "that's the pastor's kid." it weirded me out, cuz' I'd never felt the effects of other kids being sub-conscious of my being a PK, and it actually SOMEWHAT anoyed me affter I thought about it when i went home, but quickly shrugged it off. . . oh well. . . what can you do? ^_^ so I guess I don't let it get to me too much, cuz' honestly, I could care less. being able to suport my dad is awesome. ^_^

Hey Im new here

Hey, welcome Chewie! Nice to see another person from MI floating around ;)

Sometimes there are impossible expectations, but it's hard to get people to realize that I, you, and anyone who is the son/daughter/whatever of a pastor is exactly the same as everyone else.

I always die a little of embarrassment when someone does something, like say swears around me, realizes that I'm standing there, and apologizes profusely because I'm related to a pastor/am in the current state of going to church often/involved in the church.

Or when people just assume that you're exactly where you're meant to be with God and hence don't struggle in your relationship with Him, and that you always do the right thing.

It's like, dude, I try to do the right thing --- but I can't claim that I do the right thing all the time... and I sure as heck struggle in my relationship with God as much as the next person does.

Even though I'm not a pastor's kid, I can relate to that. Some of the girls at work would cuss, and then when they realized I was there they would apologize profusely because "you're so....into church and all..."

I may not be a pastor's kid (actually, I'm a medical kid--my mom is a nurse with billion initials, and my dad is a lab technician), but I can relate at least a little bit to what some of you are saying. I am and have been really involved in all the churches we've been to, so people still treat you like something special when they see you a lot. Maybe it's just me, but I kind of think, "if people look at me and see Christ in me, then I've fulfilled my purpose". The catch is living right so people WILL see Christ in you.

Absolutely. We're just as human as everyone else. What's interesting, though, as much as I sometimes dislike it, if you live the example of Christ, people DO start to take notice. My unsaved friends don't swear around me nearly as much (that's not to say they've stopped completely but that's because I don't feel right calling them out on it). It's strange to see, but cool to know "Wow. I made them THINK about their surroundings before they started dropping F bombs" or something. I can completely empathize with everything you're saying, though.

I've been close to being a PK many a time. My dad feels called to the ministry of a pastor, but right now he's staying put just helping out in our current church, which is good because he's actually had many opportunities to preach. My mom has taught a few times as well. We're like a whole teaching family because KazuValis and I both teach in the children's departments.
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone
And so hold on when there is nothing left in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!' ...you'll be a Man, my son!

You come to love not by finding the perfect person, but by seeing an imperfect person perfectly.

Exactly, if Jesus can take a couple of nails for me, I sure as heck should be able to take a few minutes of awkwardness for Him and the team.

To keep all us PKs humble I must remind everyone that Jesse and Frank James
were PKs too!
