The Big E3 discussion thread

Alright E3, the biggest annual gaming event in America... where all of our favorite companies come to show off the lastest and spiffyest games you'll be dieing to play this Christmas and the next.

I'd like to try something interesting with this thread.....as the E3 trade show goes on, we'll discuss about everything we're interested in when it's announce (and long after).. for the next three days I'll be watching the E3 event closely on all of the game site I know of... (IGN, Gamespot, X-play, G4, Gamespy, and Gametrailers and so on...) and I'll bring up new topics for us to discuss and of course anyone else is free to post a discussion. Now, this thread might get a little hectic, so of quote and bold, so we know what you're talking about. I think this will be very fun.

Anyways, before the show starts.... what are you looking forward to and hope to see?

I'll start....

Hardware:
First, I am waiting for Nintendo to unravel the mysteries of the DS. And I'm hoping the big three won't be shy and show off the Next Gen consoles.

Games:

Metroid Prime 2: I'm interested to see the multi-player in action, but the singular player is the main treat when I play the game. It's the one I'm most looking forward to.

Halo 2: I just read a five page (along with watching some demo videos) about the multiplayer... it's just beautiful. You can play as the Elites and use those light saber like weapons. My big worry is the frame rate and load times. This is X-box's saving grace... for their sake it better be the best thing on the show floor. M$ has alot to lose here

Final Fantasy XII: classic modern Final Fantasy fun here... no online reputation and no missions here I hope... just a trid and true Square master piece

Resident Evil 4: I love the new look that Resident Evil is taking... yay! I can now see what I'm shooting and the muzzle flash of my gun.

Marvel vs. EA: this may no be on my wish list, but I'm just curious to see what EA's fighter are going to be

Knights of the Old Republic II: I was worried when Bioware announce they were passing the Kotor torch to some little know branch of their company... I'm hearing a lot of positive things... but, it's all fluff til' I see it in action. I'm also curious about the Voice acting cast.

Tales of Symphonia: Joy! RPG for the GC and it looks great.... my only real worry here is the Voice acting.. it could easily kill this awesome game... so far I like what I hear... but I'm waiting for a full demo at E3

Battle for Middle Earth: EA is promising a ton of really cool features that will take real time stragery to a new level. I love General and I'm sure this game will rock.

Paper Mario: looks odd, weird, funny, and just fun!

Fire Emblem: I'm very curious to see how this epic GBA game translates to 3D

Advance Wars: same as Fire Emblem.

Jade Empire: made by the same people as Kotor... the graphics are improved and they're promising a real-time hand to hand fightning sysem

Sudeki, Fable, and True Fantasy: Xbox is getting some promising looking RPGs in.

Kill Zone: Sony’s claim to be the Halo killer… it could have potential to kill Halo, but not Halo 2.

So much more... this E3 is going to be big!

Anyways, I'm done typing for now... your turn...

Sorry for the double post, but Gamespy has a first hands on for the Nintendo DS.. Im reading about it right now.... there's also a picture of it!!!!!

http://cube.gamespy.com/articles/513/513341p1.html

Also, IGN has a hands on Halo 2 article with Demo videos... worth checking out...

http://xbox.ign.com/articles/513/513152p1.html?fromint=1

And Gamespot had some info a bit back on Kotor II with free streaming video from the developers:

http://www.gamespot.com/redirect.html?id=6096537&p=5&gc=1

I'll be back with my two cents... go ahead and post yours...

If you can't tell.. I'm so excited this year!

Quick add in... two games I would like to add to my list... DS games..

Gamespy wrote:Super Mario 64 X 4 -- This four-player game showed off both the wireless and dual-screen facets of the system. The object of the game was to find and collect more stars than your opponents. You could also hit your opponents to steal their stars. The bottom of the screen served as a map that showed your opponent's positions and the location of the star. The game played fast, looked gorgeous, and was lots of fun.

Metroid Prime: Hunter -- From a technical standpoint, this was the most impressive DS title I saw. This first-person shooter looked incredible. Off the top of my head, I can't think of a Nintendo 64 FPS that looked as good as this game. It also had one of the most unusual and interesting control schemes I've ever seen. You can control your character's left, right, up, and down movements with the d-pad or (if you're lefty) use the face buttons to control direction. With the stylus you can change the direction the character is looking at, fire your weapon, and charge your weapon. With a simple flick of the stylus, you character can look left while still being moved forward by the d-pad. Tapping on the screen sends a single shot, while holding the stylus down charges the weapon for a bigger blast. Controlling a game with a d-pad in conjunction with a stylus was one of the most unique gaming experiences I've had in recent years. This game looks amazing and plays great already.

Alright... the DS owns!!!!

I must say, I'm quite impressed with E3 this year. I'm going to keep on top of it with Gamespot hopefully. E3 and the products that are being showcased defenitely look promising which makes for a very good gaming season.

I'm hoping for some release dates on the PS3 or PSX, whichever is coming first, so I know how far off the price drop on PS2's is. I've also been intrigued by the speculation about the DS and want to find out exactly what in the sam hill it is. After reading the Gamespy article, I must admit it looks like a serious contender. Have to see if there is anything on the PSP.
Unfortunately, I missed out on Paper Mario 1, but have heard all kinds of good things about it, and await a confirmation of the rumors about #2.
Patiently awaiting all the news.

There is a new halo 2 trailer at gamespot. it looks sweet. u can hijack viecles, shoot off ghost wings and warthog hubcaps. i really was the dual weapon and beam sword. i wonder if they will include the fuel rod and flame thrower. the new zelda game looks nice, but they had a farcry or somethin screen shot there. There is a super poor game out for pc. on gamespot look for"FBI: Hostage Rescue". it got like a 1.7 and it just came out! I want the limited edition halo 2 box, look so cool. check it out a bungie.net. Doom three looks to scary for me  Maybe the gamecube isn't so bad...

E3 Update:

This news could be fake, I've yet to hear something from the official sites:
Well, this morning was pretty dull compared to the pre-shows yesterday (and before). Until, Sega announced.... their little secret.... another handheld... yeah, people were most likely shock... apparently Sega claims the system to be a "the videogame equivalent of the iPod"... but, here's the catch... to save battery life... no back lit screen... yeah... I've named the System the "I-gage"

Linkage:

I'll update you when I find the real story....

(Thanks to Vyse for the interesting link)

In other news....

Here's some links to a list of Games and Company for the PSP and FF VII AC for the PSP:

http://psp.ign.com/articles/513/513977p1.html
http://psp.ign.com/articles/513/513967p1.html

One title did catch my eye: Metal Gear Acid
http://psp.ign.com/articles/513/513793p1.html

A IGN has a lot of New info on the Star Craft: Ghost game (interviews, movies, and pictures.)
http://xbox.ign.com/articles/513/513742p1.html
No information on Doom 3 for the PC (because it's coming out very soon, according to id), but the X-box version is looking good and moving along well.

Thanks for the update Glitch, hoping they'll release more video on Half Life 2. It's so awesome looking, the physics just rock!

Yes, and Silent Hill 4 is looking as creepy and gross as ever.

Also, Far Cry has been announced for the X-box and PS2.

Star Wars Republic Commando looks like a good Star Wars game:
http://xbox.ign.com/objects/566/566821.html

And Star Wars Battlefront along with Modern Combat: (if you ask me there no point to buying these game, get Battlefield 1942 and download the Modern Combat and Star Wars mod):

GO Pikmin 2 !!!!
and X-men Legends!!

Oh my gosh! PSP looks awsome! And the Nintendo DS looks awsome! And Sega is entering the Handheld market? Also Microsoft is entering too???

that's 6 Handhelds!!!
(PSP, DS, Zodiac, Microsoft, N-gage, Sega)

Poor Nintendo, I think PSP's going to beat it... Nintendo hasn't advanced enough in the handheld industry, it's been nothing but crappy little 2d games for years now. And the PSP looks like it'll revolutionize the market. I just don't know what to buy anymore. I mean of course the Nintendo DS is probably just as powerful as the PSP..

Actually I love both Nintendo and Sony. Sony actually deserves this. Becasue for Years they've been ridiculed for having the weakest system. Now is their time to shine.

I'm getting overwhelmed

Pikmin 2 wil be great, from the looks of the video there appears to be a capture the flag (er.. round orb thing) mode.

Quick updates:

Knights of the Old Republic first trailer! :
http://media.xbox.ign.com/media/679/679264/vids_1.html

Metal Gear Acid Update: Well, interesting news.... apparently the game isn't real-time... it's turn based? Well, it's no joke... a turn based Metal Gear... yeah and if that isn't bad enough it's also use a "Card Based" battle system that sweeping Japan.

Initial reaction to PSP, looks like we may have a contender. A nice long list of initial games and companies, big specs and lots of buzz. We'll have to wait and see what the price is and what games make it across the Pacific.

NOVEMBER 9th! NOVEMBER 9th! The world shall end end on that very day!!!

No really, that new Zelda game looks great -- I loved Wind Waker but seriously we all want a more mature looking Link right. I still didn't get my Terranigma or Actraiser follow-ups.
