First game to scare you

Postby Bobtheduck » Sun May 09, 2004 1:52 am

The first game I ever played that scared me was Carnival on Atari/sega... It scared the heck out of me when the wooden duck went evil and attacked me... It looks like a monkey when it's in attack mode, and it always scared me...

The next game to scare me was Golgo 13... I don't have a clue why, but the hotel scene (the murder one, not the "other" hotel scene) gave me nightmares. After that, the giant evil hands on Zelda freaked me out...

DOOM was the first game to really freak me out, but the scene where I actually went through the ceiling out of my chair was in Quake when the cubes started to levitate in level 2, buried themselves in their targets, the doors opened and you got your first look at that beast with the arms that slashed ... can't remember the name of the creature now.

Well i've never gotten scared from a video game, but I jumped a few times playing resident evil games. First time and best was Rezevil 2 when the two way mirror explodes and a licker jumps out at you. It was all clear the first time through when you where expecting it. so i was all, du de duu humming along ready to leave the room when mr nasty jumps out and trys to kill me. blah.

Wolfenstein and DOOM were both freaky games. DOOM was probably scarier than Wolfenstein, but they both had their moments.

The first game that ever scared me was Frankenstein for the NES. I rented it one night, and the intro was really creepy (at least when I was 6 :P ).

The second game to scare me was Resident Evil: Director's Cut. Although a little cheesy, the intro scared me, as well as a few of the enemies that jump out at you (thanks to to door opening sequence).

I watch a lot of horror movies, so no game scares me now (although I did jump once in Silent Hill 3 when a dog I wasn't aware of lunged at me).

Quake II scared me. I was afraid to go into the dark shadows after hearing blades and growls coming from them.

Descent scared me. I literally had nightmares for nights after playing that game...barreling through tunnels, being stuck miles beneath the surface of Mars, et cetera...

It shouldn't have been too suprising, though. I was in second grade when I first touched that game.

For the Atari 2600, I'll go with Haunted House. For the NES, Castlevania 2 (with Mega Man 2 possibly coming in a close second, but that was more startling than scary; I just had to get used to the controls & style and then I was fine).

Hmm...well when I was like 7 or 8 The Friday the 13th game for the NES jumped me a few times. *running along* WHAM As of late....hmmmm....Probably the only game in resent memory would be Resident Evil Nemesis. Walking though a street...went back and forth like 4 times...and the one time I am not ready, a door blows off a car. (I must have shot like 20 rounds into that zombie)

w00 b0y....I was scared by Marathon...lol, back in the old days that game used to freak me out. Not cause there were scary monsters really, or the music or anything that would normally scare someone, just because it was in 3d and enemies would shoot at you and chase you and sometimes you'd walk around a corner and there one'd be shooting you in the face.... and since i was only like 8, it scared teh crap right out of me.

Oh, I remember those, Straylight. I thought I was climbing a post or something, and I was like, "Cool!" and then I noticed a mouth around me, followed by teh distinct, Half-Life only pleasure of watching my organs drop to the floor...eww...

Oh man, have I been scared by video games...... So many times.....

Return to Castle Wolf, was very freaky! (I never played it, but my dad used to on my computer.) The zombies were freaky, and the big blob was even freakier! I dunno what it is, but big bumbling blob monsters running towards you in a total madness really scare me now.

The FIRST game that totally scared me was Jedi Knight. When I went in the water, and there was those reddish sluggish looking monsters, that was REALLY scary!!!

Another scare was when me and my cousin were playing Medal Of Honor. (the first one, for PC) He controlled the dude, and I switched weapons. The snow level that has about 20 attack dogs on it, just waiting to attack you from some hidden area. We would totally freak out when all of a sudden something is chewing on our foot, and then we go crazy and start shooting everywhere like a mad person. Ahh, good times....

I never get scared from games, but I do jump occasionally. I never make a noise and my siblings think I'm weird for that...

Too bad you all couldn't come to my house when my cousins are playing. You can here their screams from anywhere in the house. It's pretty creepy, and fun to laugh at.
