Marathon Gaming Sessions

Postby cbwing0 » Sun May 02, 2004 6:43 am

Yesterday (and part of today technically :P ), my friends and I spent a little less than 12 hours playing Champions of Norrath for the PS2. For those that don't know, this is a fun, complex, and challenging mulitplayer game with both offline and online multiplayer capabilities. The game is divided into three different modes of play, which a geared towards characters of different levels (kind of like Phantasy Star Online's Normal, Hard, and V-Hard). Each is successively more difficult. Yesterday, we beat the entire second difficulty setting, and started on the final one. The game is clearly meant to be a multiplayer title, as the number/strength of enemies does not change significantly based on the number of players in your party.

Although I have had some pretty long sessions of Warcraft 3, Phantasy Star Online, Starcraft, Armored Core, Spawn: In the Demon's Hand, and a few others titles, this is by far the longest I have ever spent playing games (it would be longer, but in the past there would always be breaks for tv, physical activities, etc.).

Anyway, what is your longest marathon gaming session. Note: bathroom breaks and meals do not interrupt the time as long as you go straight back to playing games afterwards. ;)

I used to play Diablo II and its subsequent expansion about 8+ hours. Many of my Age of Empires II games lasted 4+ hours, and same with Warcraft III when we had LAN parties.

My favorite gaming session was seven hours. I know it doesn't sound like a lot but let me explain...

It was Christmas Eve/Morning at midnight and I was around thirteen. The only thing I wanted for Christmas was Final Fantasy 3 on the SNES. I went out into the living room to raid my stocking after Mom and Dad went to bed... Low and behold, there it was: Final Fantasy 3 in its sealed wrappings and strategy guide in tow! I played the game from midnight to 7am when everyone else woke up to unwrap presents. *giggles* Mom inquired, "How long have you been playing that thing?" All I had to do was show her the time. ;) Budding hardcore game-marathoners, yeah! *laughs*

haha, good stroy Staci. prolly the longest i have ever spent playing a game is 16 hours and it was when i was younger and had more freetime, like in the summer. It to was a squaresoft game, whether it was FF3 or Chrono Trigger i can't recall. I don't think i have that much free time now-a-days. :)

Ever played 'Sailor Moon - Beautiful Soldier' on SNES 30 hours straight? I was eating microwave oven pizza all the time. But in the end that wasn't the only game I went crazy on, and thus the whole marathon in my case turned out to be 72. 3 days. Then I had to leave the house to push that garbage thing to the kurb, and there it was, my record broken and concluded. I was halucinating near the end, so I went to sleep.

It wasn't the best of my gaming sessions, but it sure was the longest and probably most wasted time of my life.

Wha?? 72.3 days????

My longest marathon was one late July evening. Around 6pm. A friend and I went to the video store to look for a title to try out on his new x-box. There on the shelves was a little game known as Halo. We both heard a little about it, and realizing it had a co-oprative campeign mode, we decided to give it a shot.
We brought it back, pluged it in around 7pm, and it wasnt untill 12 hours later (when we had defeated the finaly level) that we "game up" for air.

Depend on it. God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supply. He is too wise a God to frustrate His purposes for lack of funds, and He can just as easily supply them ahead of time as afterwards, and He much prefers doing so.

I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

Notice the space. It means 72 hours.

3 days in another words.

Although if you think about it, I could play games all day as long as supplies never ran out, so 72 days would still be possible, had I time to do one.

Probably will after HSC exams. LONG, LONG, LONG hours of gaming, and having fun, going to Korea, meet new people, get ready for uni, endless endless endless things to do...

I see it now.
Not that I would have been suprised if some one confessed to having played Video games for a month and a half straight...... Though I supose they would have died soon after from the lack of sleep. All in all, not such a bad way to go.
