FPS for the Mac

(Well, I've just gotten myself a new computer, and it's the first out of all I've owned that is capable of playing actual games, rather than those dinky ones you get online.)

(Since I've never had a chance to play on the computer, I don't really know anything about games for it.)

(So does anyone know of any good FPSs, online or bought, that are rated T? I know of all the M ones, but my parents aren't going to let me buy one of those.)

(I'm not particularly picky about my FPS (I know I like Metroid, I've played the original CS and liked it, and I don't like Jedi Knight), and any other game recommendation besides FPS for the Mac is fine.)

(As for my specs, it's the best MacBook you can short of upgrading to the Pro. So if a MacBook can play it, mine can.)

(I'm already looking into America's Army, because I've heard some good things about it. edit: Or not. Looks like its Windows only.)

Technically, you can still get America's Army for Mac, but they quit updating it at 2.5. The Windows version is 2.8.2 IIRC.

(Ah, I see. I was just looking at the manual to get a feel for controls (also currently without a mouse, currently), and stopped there. I shall resume my look, then.)

Use bootcamp and them buy Portal.

Best 20 bucks you will ever spent. Period.

(What Windows OS would I need? There's a Windows 2000 disc lying around somewhere, but that's about it.)

Probably XP. Hog it off from a friend or something.

(Hrm hrm. I don't know anyone with a XP CD. If I ever get my hands on one, I'll add Portal to the list of to-buys.)

No One Lives Forever is cheap, Mac compatible, and if memory serves, rated T. It's tons of fun, has a great atmosphere, and is absolutely hilarious.

It's also very cheap, as far as Mac games go. I saw it at Fry's for $10.

(Battlefront is on my list, but I'd really like to stress T games, not M - while I was only familiar with with Halo and Battlefront, I know Halo's M.)

I'd get Battlefront 2 instead of the first one.

I didn't like the first one. XD Second one I haven't played yet.

Is HL2 able to run on a Macbook? If so, I may be willing to shell out a space for Portal. As for FPS's for Mac, I'd highly suggest Call of Duty, the first one at least.

HL2 can run on my 5 year old Dell Dimension 4600, with medium graphics to boot.

Of course it could easily run on a Macbook. XD

Hmmm, depending on what games you want. Do you want mac exclusive, or do you want to run pc games on a mac? Macs currently are not too updated on games itself, but that can easily be changed if you use bootcamp and download XP/Vista and use that for gameing. Be aware that if you want DX 10 games you will need Vista. Think there was someone who made DX 10 work on XP too, question is if its legal.
