Perhaps you oughta preorder?
http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-9g-49-en-70-1gb9.html (DS)
http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-dy-47-sp_97-70-1gba.html (DS Lite)
The only difference is the exansion card slot size, the DS lite's being smaller (in size, not capacity)
I am not sure if it will come to the US in the future, I sure hope so. But for now, I see no language difference in this one, so I might as well get this one.

I heard it runs on some sort of Wirless signal frequency only available in Japan...
or is that a vicious rumor...

Then what would be the purpose of importing it?
I think it's a rumor

no it'll work off of most wifi networks, smae rules apply to opera as to thier current wifi games, im sure it'll take about 3 months before you start to see them in america, but thats not too far off, then ill be able to use my ds for surfing the web!

Interesting... though it seems like a waste of money to people who already own a Laptop...

To Linksquest: Not if you don't carry your laptop around everywhere.
I don't understand why it doesn't do sound. It's not like the DS doesn't have speakers. Perhaps it's a processor power issue? That may be why it doesn't do animations and Flash. But it does the 3D . . . so confused . . .
At any rate, I'll probably get it when the price comes down [I don't use the Wi-Fi networks very often, and if I did, I'd just cart my PowerBook around.]. It'd be a decent app to have just in case. Me, I'm going for Mario Kart, New SMB, Super Princess Peach, and maybe Jump Superstars when my knowledge of Japanese is sufficient.

DS is turning into quite the little media center, isn't it? When will it play music and movies? XD
I might get this, it looks pretty nifty. I want sound though :0

well now that you mention it there is allready a movie audio player out for it, in fact theres at least 3, 2 of which will work on the GBA theyre pretty cool allthough the memorycards are expensive, the 4 gig HD version is probably the worst on since it wont run most video formats but i plan on getting one of the SD card ones when i get some moneies put togeather and of course that all depends on when the wii come s out too^^

Awesome! I can't wait for the browser to come out in the US. (I know it hasn't been confirmed, but I'm hoping for the best.)

Update:

This is a video review of the Opera browser for the DS. Honestly, I'm not impressed. The keyboard option gives it a few points over the PSP, but not much. The PSP's load times are WAY faster. Most web pages take one to two minutes to load (!), and as he said on the video, CNN.com takes THREE MINUTES to load on the DS.
So, I'll stick with my PSP if I wanna browse the internet on a gaming system.

Ouch. I was really hoping that this would be faster than the PSP, seeing as it comes with additional memory. -_-

What's with this? We don't want all in one systems, we want dedicated gaming machines... It's a gaming portable, not a PDA! Honestly, this is an outrage, I buy my DS for super mario brothers and for Nintendogs, not for homestarrunner.com and christian anime alliance... {/sarcasm}
Unless it has flashplayer, the net browsing on PSP still beats the DS... I'm sure in the next couple upgrades, they'll even sell one of those blackberry keyboards for the DS (USB, of course) that will elliminate the need for using the controller at all... That, and with video downloads (and, apparently, sound... And isn't the browser FREE on a PSP? Maybe I'm wrong on that) it still beats the DS
Not to say I wouldn't want both...

To answer your questions, no, the DS browser does not have a flash player. Also, the web browser on the PSP is free (however, the PSP is also more expensive than the DS, so I guess it balances out in the end).

Sure, the PSP's browser beats the DS's, but many of us can't afford a PSP.
