Final Fantasy VII: PC Version

I have finally found the benefits of owning this game over the Playstation version! As with all PC games/applications/software, there is always some clever person out there who decides to create a bunch of patches or mods which can be found rolling around the net if you search closely enough. Well, I've found:

1) A patch that replaces the balls on the end of the characters arms with actual hands.
2) A patch that replaces cloud with the higher definition model of himself (that only appears in the final final fight with sephiroth) so that he looks better in all battles.
3) A program which lets you add secret characters into your party before you can even get them (e.g at the start of the game), have aeris again after she's died, add sephiroth, young cloud and even a chocobo into your team; add any number of any item into your inventory, add any number of any materia into your inventory, change the number of slots on weapons, alter the amount of HP your characters have and even change the 'love points' that each character has (for the date at the Gold Saucer). And all with less glitchiness and fuss than the playstation cheat codes (yay!).

Theres also patches to make the game work better (especially if your running it on windows XP like me) and probably more mods that I haven't found.

Just thought I'd share that with you guys :)

well... If I hadn't shattered my FF7 PC CD's into hundreds of little pieces about 8 years ago... Link us, Nic!

One way the PS version still owns the PC version, though: Music... Midi is crap compared to the music on the PS version... Unless there's a patch that uses the PS music, this is not a problem easily remedied... I cried when I heard the sephiroth song sans lyrics...

Actually, with the correct midi synthesizer it can sound better on the PC. I own the PC versions of FFVIII and FFVII, and I think some of the music sounds better on the computer with the creative labs midi synthesizer, and some of it sounds the same.

One thing I might add is that it seems the PC version has taken out much of the profanity that was in the PS version, though still not enough for my liking. *points to the misuses of our Lord's name* There's a program that someone made that will actually let one hack into and change the text in the game, called Cosmo.

Someday, if I ever get the time and motivation, I'd like to figure out how to edit out all that cursing without having Cait Sith's theme playing all throughout the first Mako reactor.

The midi "one winged angel" will always suck.
