Ok, so I'm on the 2nd disk just beat the Virage boss and haven't had a chance to save since and just went to enter the Home of Gigantos... now my disk froze and stopped here :/ My friend gave me their copy and I realize it is scratched (including a full scratched ring made from... not sure^^) but the first disk worked fine and this one just wouldn't load at all :/ BUT I also remember hearing that someone owned the game and it also froze on a certain part (not sure if his was scratched too or something)...
Is this a common thing for the game or should I just go out and buy a new copy? (This time I should just get a brand new one, just in case^^) Still dissapointing though... didn't feel like going out and buying a new copy :/

I was literally about to make a thread for this. I just got bakc into this game and am halfway through Disk 3. Great game.

My disks are clear perfection so...

Depends on the price. I got this for free at Toys R US thanks to a card I had when I was little that I never used. This is definately a game worth completing. The price I saw it for without the card was $7.99.

Dragoon is one of my fav rpgs i loved the battle system. It is very cheap to buy. As far as the freeze ups happening i haven't heard of that happening.

Ooo lucky me^^ So I took the disk out and used my shirt to rub the scratches and some only left traces... went back and beat the boss again (even more easily than the first) and then was able to save just before entering the town and went in... and now it works!! ^^ I'll do what I can to save money...

Well then, this thread can be used as a discussion of the game then.

Grub, have you beaten it?

I`m around 30 hrs into it. And I`m nowhere near halfway through the 3rd Disk as I thought. I`m at the Wingly Forest (2nd Visit). I`d say 1/4 through.

I beat it...ehhh, roughly four years ago now. Sweet game, fun battle system, but soooooo sloooooow loading times. I had some trouhle going back into towns that it said it needed the other disks for, but I don't remember any other hangups other than that.

It froze again one more time for me :/ All it played was the background music and didn't load anythign else... so I took out the disk and rubbed it again^^ Now I have the last character of the game in my party!

The game reminds me so much of FF7 (the only FF game I've played for just PS... not including FFTA^^) and although the graphics aren't too realistic, I simply love the background art! I know it doesn't look realistic but can't quite put my finger on it... either way, I like it^^

*whew* Feels like it'll be a loooooooooong game! 4 disks long and all and I copied out a walkthrough onto MSN Word (easier access, erase parts I've gone through along the way so I don't have to have a hard tiem looking it up) and I'm at 79 1/2 pages left :/ oy... Well when I started replayign the game a couple days ago, I DID have 90, so the progress isn't too bad^^ I know FF7 had 3 disks, but the last 2 were mostly due to the size of graphics and all... I also own FF8 which is also 4 disks, but trying to finish games like LoD (and find to buy .hack//Quarantine...) before I even start on it^^

You don`t have the last character of the game in your party. I can assure you, you don`t unless you used a cheat.

Yeah... it's
Kongol
which according to the walkthrough I'm using, is the last character you get :/

No, you get two or three more characters.

I think I may know that guide. I think it reads "One of the last characters."

DO you have Meru yet? She`s that teenage perky character.

Yeah... you HAVE to get Meru before
Kongol
Well, you still have that blonde-haired girl that I recently got.

So in other LoD news this is the first time I've had THIS much trouble with a boss >_< Lenus... is too hard^^ She gets twice the amount of turns as my, with even more powerful attacks :/ Oy... back to the walkthrough!

I was stuck on her for my entire 8th grade school year.

And the once I beat her, I just stopped playing it.

Wow... long time. :/ I know I have a habit of if I get stuck on a part of of the game (usually lost or can't beat a boss) I "take a break" from the game, usually for a few months to a year^^ Then I go back to it and either check out a walkthrough or go through on my own, and do even better than I did the before! I started LoD... I think the winter of 04^^ Then I got stuck near the end of the first disk where you have to collect 3 different coloured orb thingies to get a statue to open... I printed out that part of the walkthrough, but just set the game aside because at the time think I got into .hack or something... well now I'm back playing^^ ...that is until I find and buy Quarantine... but right now, I think I'll take a couple days break^^ I'd level up, but it's a REALLY hard game to do that!

Not really. To gain a level sure but to make your additions do more damage, not really.

I got this game April 2004. I got unstuck on Lenus in I`d say December 2006 and just got back into it.

Wow... so since I got stuck nwo I didn't have any other game to really complete, so I tried a few more times on her (changing my strategy every time) and on the 4th time I think it was, I beat her pretty easily, only having one death in the party^^ Yay! Time to continue!

Who said I actually TRIED to beat her? I tried once, didn`t try again and then after a LONG TIME I decided to try again and easily defeated her.

I wasn`t STUCK on her, as I mistakingly claimed before hand. I was just ON her as a boss for my 8th grade school year.

Legend of Dragoon was an extremely cool game - my only problems were the very limited weapon set and the crazy-long battle transitions. I'm a HUGE fan of timed hits and I really wish more turned based RPGs would use them. And just to let everyone know, Meru rocks.

...so right now I'm on the ghost ship where I'm having SO much fun with the boss(es) v_v Do you have any idea how NOT fun it is when you kill something and if you don't kill them all around the same time, they come back to life with full HP again?! oy... -_-; I need to regroup and come up with a new plan :/

So I can't remember the farthest I've gotten on the game, but I think it was like half way through the second disk. If I had the time/patience I would go back and play it again. It has been a while but there is one thing that I will always remember (possible hyperbole) about Legend of Dragoon. It broke my heart when
Lavits was killed
Aww nuts >_< so after beating a boss (Lenus and the dragon) my game froze yet again and even rubbign the disk isn't going to help me this time v_v Either I'll have to borrow from someone or buy a new one :/ Well, at least the bosses are easy and if I can do it twice, I can do it a third time^^

Whoa, Tenshi, you are playing that game at a really fast pace.

I`m playing LoD less and am currently into Lunar: SSS complete.

So I FINALLY found out what happened with the game^^

Got to borrow my friend's disk and it wasn't quite a scratched, and then I was thinking how my first disk was scratched up ALOT more and never froze once unlike Disk 2... Once again I beat boss (took me a bit and a few tries to get back into the habit of the game because of my Tactics^^) and once again: it froze right after the Level Up/Items Gained screen >_< Decided to look up the glitch and found my problem: it glitches like that often on PS2s, so it wasn't the actual disk's fault after all^^ Although rubbing the disk and restarting could get me past the first couple of freezings, looks like now I'll have to ask to borrow (or play at their house) on a friend's regular PS :/ *sigh* I'm getting so mad at the repetitiveness of beating that boss over and over >_<

The game has NEVER frozen for me. Well, my copy is perfection, not a single scratch so yeah.....

Anyways, I got stuck. The Divine Dragon is faster than Lenus.

Legend of Dragoon, one of my favorite rpg's for PS1. My disks are practically scratch free, and I've never really had any freeze up problems with the game.

Gypsy wrote:And just to let everyone know, Meru rocks.

I totally agree, if you level her up and with the right equip, she'll run circles around the enemies and just pound 'em :hits_self

Wow, I'm amazed that so many people still play and love this game! I certainly loved the game, too. I lent it to a friend, and have yet to get it back... I was on the third disk and my game got deleted. That was some time ago. If I ever get it back, I reckon I'll start a new game.
