Taken In!...A Game Craving Topic

Alright, so the other day I was sitting down with my beloved Metroid Prime Hunters, playing through adventure mode.

Suddenly, in the middle of fighting Sylux, I just say to myself...

"I'm bored..."

Ignoring my own comment I continued to play, but as I went on I became more and more tired of it all. So I tried switching over to Fire Emblem for a bit, a game I've completed more times than I can count, but still love.

It was good...But it made me want something more...Something I hadn't played in a LONG time.

The very next hour I had a brand new, sparkling copy of Pokemon Emerald in my DS. I was quite shocked with myself, not having played Pokemon since the Gold/Silver days, I just got a craving to raise and train those adorable/ferocious/odd creatures. The temptation of Pokemon had wrapped it's fingers around me once more, and I happily gave in for another go in the world of giant stone worms and fluffy singing marker-writing-on-faces puffballs.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone else ever found themself taken back in by a game they'd almost forgot about? Not necessarily even Pokemon, but just for example, did you ever forget about Final Fantasy Tactics, having traded it in (Why someone would do that I have no clue) and forgot about it. Only to be reminded of it and crave the amazing glory of Ramza and Co. once more? Share your story.

I remember playing through about 3/4ths of Kingdom Hearts, and then forgetting about it for nearly a year. When the second game was announced, I went and finished it.

And then waited like two more years for the darn game to come out.

Illusion of Gaia. I was pretty much drooling when I found a ROM of it for my SNES emulator (I own a SNES and the official copy now so no morality slating please, I love paying for products :D)

Earthbound is my game like that. There's nothing really amazing about it. Despite the fact that I love that game so much, I'll be the first one to say that it's a rather plain, average RPG. But I still love it ^_^ Just a week ago I started playing it again, and I played it for like, 5 hours straight. I haven't gotten back to playing it though, since I've been playing Flyff a lot.

And if not Earthboud, then probably Suikoden 2 or FFT. Both are brilliantly made games that I'll love forever.

Earthbound for life! XD

My name on nearly every other message board is Earthbounder, I absolutely love that game.

I make sure to play it at least ONCE a year, just because it's so darn cool. And I wouldn't say it's your average RPG. The rolling HP/PP system is awesome (Eating a cookie right before you hit 0 is always a laughing matter). The storyline is hillarious, the characters are loveable, and the overall game is just weird and funny, and the music is great...

>.> And you just made me want to do my yearly playthrough soon. Thanks XD

The battle network series. I started it a year or so ago and gave up quickly because it was boring me. A few weeks ago, I picked it back up and am currently addicted beyond all hope

I have particular "favorite" games that I do this with all the time. I play them once at least every other year or so, forget about them a bit, then come back for more.

Particular titles which I like to play to death:

Chrono Trigger
Ocarina of Time
Pokemon (Blue, Red, Yellow, Gold, Silver, Crystal)
Final Fantasy IX
Dino Crisis 2
Resident Evil 3
Kingdom Hearts
Metal Gear Solid

I end up playing Final Fantasy Tactics about once a year (speaking of which, it's about that time again).
