One would assume Square would be motivated to make their own remake due to how upset people were when Ressurection was denied worse than "Stairway to Heaven" in Wayne`s World.

No, Square dropped the name "Break" and kept the name "Brake". Therefore, "Chrono Brake" may exist someday.

Eleven years... interesting. Chrono Trigger is a very solid rpg, and if they remade it I'd probably actually play it.
Regarding names... I find myself wondering if there would be a thematic difference between "break" and "brake." Does the latter slow down time or something? But then again, the "Chrono Trigger" of the original game wasn't exactly central either. Did "Chrono Cross" have any particular meaning in the game?

11 years and the game is still extremely fun to play. I really enjoyed Chrono Trigger, and it still ranks as one of my favorite games.
As for your question, uc, the Chrono Cross had about as much of an effect on "Chrono Cross" as the Chrono Trigger did on "Chrono Trigger." It was an item that, if properly used, would unlock the best ending for Chrono Cross (albeit a stranger ending than the one without this item). It didn't really have much of a use anywhere other than the final boss fight, but it did add a really interesting twist to the ending and opened up interesting options for the next Chrono game, whatever it may be called.

I love both the Chrono games... People give up on CC without realizing it IS a true sequal... The two games tie together more than many people think...
I wish I could have played the resurrection game... Or the other 3d remake... I wish that companies would take a hint from these fan works, and develop a remake themselves instead of stomping out the fans...

Actually, Chrono trigger wasn`t the item as much as the
The person who used it. Crono "Triggered an event that changed Time also meaning "Chrono: forever. Serge was aslo a Chrono Trigger seeing how is death caused the dimensions to split. They would "Cross" into different dimensions as opposed to triggering events. The word Chrono is there because it was a sequel
