Snake? Snake?! SNAAAAAAAKE!!

Yup. I rented MGS: The Twin Snakes (GC) finally. Beat it in one day. Awesome game it is. Though most of it feels like a movie...

Loved the Psycho Mantis part. That was cool/freaky/awesome/disturbing. XD

Just thought I'd let the other fans now (namely a certain Ark...).

Ah, such a masterpiece of a game. Glad you enjoyed it.

Though most of it feels like a movie...

...and better than a lot of movies I've seen since then.

Off to the side:
Speaking of the Gamecube version, after playing Twin Snakes when it came out, I was curious to compare it to the orginal. So, I did and I'm not sure which I liked better. Any oringial MGS fans out there that played Twin Snakes?

True, that it is. Though some of the scenes made me want to go "Shut up and get going! The place is about to be destroyed and all you can do is stand around and talk about sappy stuff?!"

But yeah, other than that it was all good. :)

Yeah, the cinemas are more over the top and insane (and longer), since Kojima had Ryuhei Kitamura direct them. Plus they added some of MGS2's mechanics, like the FPS mode and the hiding bodies.

Honestly, I liked Twin Snakes more, myself. Crazy.

"I see you have super smash brothers on your memory card"

Play it again, by the way. Did you save Hal Emmerich/Otacon or Meryl?

If you save Meryl, you can play again with a bandana, which gives you unlimited ammo. Save Otacon and you can play it again with the active stealth camoflauge.

Ah MGS: The Twin Snakes, I beat it a while ago and well... now I either want to play through all the other MGS games or watch my friend play through them (since he is much better then me at stealth-action games in general and since its MGS you don't actually have to play through it to completely appreciate it or enjoy it... or at least I don't). The game also gave me a new appreciation for Ninja's... or wannabe Ninja's... or cyborg Ninja's...
or whatever Grey Fow was...
Glad to hear you liked it. As far as being like a movie, thats pretty much the story for Sons of liberty and Snake Eater too.

Actually, I own Twin Snakes for my Gamecube. Overall, I love the fact that they added some elements of Sons of Liberty into Twin Snakes and that the cutscenes were amazing and over-the-top (which I like).

The only complaint I have against the game is that the dialogue, as well as the voice acting, was better in the original for the PS1. That's just the way it turned out... and I wish they left that alone.

IS Twin Snakes a standalone game for the series or a rerelease of a different one on GC?

Twin Snakes is a re-release of the original Metal Gear Solid for the PS1.

Yeah I played through and beat it a couple years ago on my cousin's Cube. I played and beat the original at least a dozen times back in 1998-1999 so I loved playing the game with updated graphics and SoL abilities. The only complaint I had was some of the ridiculous cutscenes. Snake does not do back flips to knock missiles off alignment... But considering the director of Versus did them and not Kojima the only person I can blame is Kojima for hiring him. Grey Fox's scenes were awesome of course but only because he was supposed to be over the top in the first place.
