Does anyone have that video nintendo power put out when DKC was first released? It had strategies, and they gushed about it, but they also had a preview of the "Nintendo Ultra 64" at the end, where they played Killer Instinct... Hahaha... Anyone besides me remember that?
Then Killer Instinct and Cruisin USA came out in arcades, "Powered by Nintendo Ultra64" hahaha...
I remember waiting for the Super Nintendo to be released... Like, before mario 3 came out... It was schoolyard gossip that mario 3 would be released on the Super Nintendo...

YES! I remember those videos. I was an NP subscriber for a long time, and I remember getting several of those videos.

they sent me something like that with info on only the N64 I think, I never found out because my VCR ate the tape the second I put it in, mashed about four feet of the reel and then cut it.
I had my revenge though, ever seen Office Space?.

Yep, I was a subscirber of NP since almost day one (I have every issue from July '88 up to about 2002-03, when I finally got sick of the mag). I got several of those videos and thought they were incredibly stupid. If memory serves, there was a really stupid Diddy Kong Racing video that was even worse than the game it was announcing.

I remember the only reason I subscribed to Nintendo Power was to get the free Zelda Collectors edition game. I loathed every issue. It was totally biased and glorified pokemon and other nintendo games. Didn't give it a double-sides review for nintendo games.

Back in the day (i.e., the 80's, early 90's), it was a great magazine. That was, of course, when Nintendo was successful because of both its first-party AND third-party games. Once N64 came out, the mag went downhill. Plus, it just started getting too childish; you could tell they were marketing it to 8-year-old Pokemon fans.

Oh, yeah, the magazine was great in SNES days... Actually, it started strong and got progressively worse... IN the goldendays (you know, when it first came out) Every other issue was a strategy guide! Mario 3, Zelda, Final Fantasy I believe... Man... Strategy guides today sell for like 10 bucks a piece, they'd never get away with doing that now...
