Not sure where this would go. Since it's game related, I thought maybe it would go here.

Anyway, as you all well know, I am a very avid D&D player, but I feel very alone (though I know I am not). I am looking for sites that are run by or made for Christian D&D players, or other role playing games in general. I've tried using Google, but type in anything relating to D&D and Christianity and you get a plethora of "this is evil" sites, and I'm sick of it. -.-

So any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Nate

Man, I wish I could help you out. I'm not so much a D&D fan as I prefer BESM and d20 Modern, but I still like D&D and I wish I knew of a site like that....

I believe I have exactly what you are looking for:

http://www.mjyoung.net

This guy has lots of writings dealing with D&D and other things(like time travel). He's a die hard Christian and author of several books that take place in the D&D universe. If anyone tells you that D&D is evil, send 'em to this site, kaemmerite. It managed to change my mind.

Online D&D?

I`ve always wanted to know how this game works, but my parents keep telling me It`s a demonic thing like those waigi (sp?) boards or whatever they are called.

I know it isn`t so can you guys explain what it is?

Technically, I supposed D&D could be *made* demonic, but that's all in who's playing it. Sure, if you sit down a group of satanists, serial killers, and rapists, then it's probably *not* going to be a very wholesome game. Play within reason, though, and it's fun.

D&D is a d20 game (d20 is the game's gameplay engine) that is set in a medieval style setting. The staple plot of a D&D game is that a group of adventurers travel around and take jobs from people to earn money, and, in general, level up. There are deities in D&D, some good, some evil, but they're similar to those of Greek mythology. I don't think the creators intended to make it a satanic game. D&D is pretty much a free-form RPG, meaning that you can do pretty much anything you want; be it as a noble paladin who fights to bring peace to the land, just as a thrill-seeking adventurer, or even if you want it to be Grand Theft Auto: D&D. It's an open universe.

There are also D&D-esque spinoff games, such as d20 Modern, which is just about the same as D&D (it's also made by Wizards), except set in a modern time period. There's a Star Wars RPG that isn't bad, either. And there's an anime-based RPG called BESM which allows for highly customized character creation (that's a lot of c's!).

That`s what I`m confused about.

How can you level up and fight if it`s a freakin board game?

Because the engine lets you do so. Its paper and pencil, you write and record stats and sutff. And as you level up your characters get bonuses and stuff.

Ouiji boards are a blast. But I don't play with them anymore. :P Thou shalt not commune with spirits, thou shalt not seek them out. No matter how fun it seems.

What in the world does that have to do with the topic? That was extremely random.

Anyway, seems I found a Christian D&D/RPG/Gaming forum once, but I don't remember the URL....although the site Chosen Raven listed has one apparantly.

Yeah, it's got one. Personally, I find Young's articles to be the key point of interest.

Perhaps you could write down that you`re level 100 when you really aren`t.

That's when the DM makes the level one enemy magically get three critical 20's on you in a row. 3 critical 20's in a row = instant death.

Yeah, and besides, no one could really reach level 100...considering Elminster is around 1100 years old and is only about effectively level 46 or so, and a great wyrm Red Dragon (over 1200 years of age) is around level 41 effectively.

Anyway, thanks for the site, Chosen Raven. :D
