Let's see... Trauma Center, Phoenix Wright, Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, and Advance Wars: Dual Strike. Personally, I'm of the mindset that people need to be physically and emotionally maimed if they own a DS and not Advance Wars DS. It would only be better if it supported Wi-Fi.

on the GBA, the golden sun games are amazing if you like RPGs!

I don't want to be... >_>
And I'm not a big fan of tactical games, it seems. I mean, there are many GREAT ones, I realize that, but I personally don't like much of them anymore... (same with racing and sports games).

Unless, of course, they already own one of the two other (GBA) Advance Wars games. All three are pretty similar.
I completely agree with Duckie's list, but I'd also add Mario Kart to it. Great even if you don't take it online.
If you own a DS, you have to own a WarioWare game. They're all so uber-insane that they're must haves. WarioWare Twisted for the GBA stands out in particular.
Also GBA games, The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap and Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga are things that people really need to play. They're just full of that old Nintendo magic.
You should also check out Fire Emblem for the GBA. Another turn-based strategy game, this time in a fantasy setting and with a really deep and engrossing story.
In any case, you can't go wrong with the DS. A really nice system on its own, and the GBA compatibility makes it all the sweeter.

I`d say more if you like Zelda games.
I think zelda fans woul appreciate it for than FF fans would.
(Using FF as an example, because it`s the most popular RPG series in the US).
The gameplay in Golden Sun is great, but the story is......not RPG worthy.

Yes to both (though I have yet to play Minish Cap).

Gunstar Super Heroes
Pros: Funness, $20, Incredible Graphics, Guns Lots and Lots of Guns, All the guys are named after colors, Red and Blue are some of the coolest charecters I have ever seen, swords.
Cons: Incredibly short.
Or...
There's a much longer game called Final Fantasy Four Advance it's just as good.

The trouble with GBA games is that although there are some great titles out there that should definitely not be missed, for every good one there are like three or four crappy ones. So you have to look hard to find ones that are really worth playing.

I like the Fire Emblem games for GBA a lot if you like Tactic RPGs with intricate storylines... the Mario Kart games are really good if you like racing games in which you can beat up opponents... LOTR: The Two Towers and LOTR: The Return of the Kings are also good GBA titles... the gamecube versions of those two are probably better... but i like the item-collection aspect of the GBA version
