Can you think of any really good games that are hard to find?

I could go on a neverneding list.

Grandia 1, Xenogears, Legend of Legaia, Star Ocean: The Second Story, Suikoden II, and Spiderman for the PS1.

Explain why you love these games and give them a:

1 to 5

1 being: Not on the shelf that often and 5 being: So INSANELY RARE YOU WOULD BLINK AND MISS IT ON eBay!

System Shock 2: The graphics may be old, but the story line and environment rocks, and SHODAN has to be the best villian I have ever heard. For those who don't know, SHODAN is an insane AI system that believes it is a god and that insults you all through System Shock 1 (and much of 2). You have to hear it to believe it, but the voice acting for SHODAN is perfect for an insane AI. The game environment is very dark and really well designed, you really feel like you are on a spacecraft taken over by aliens (if you can get around the older graphics). Rarity: 3 It's not in stores any more, and copies are pretty rare (the company is now out of business), but you can find them if you look hard enough.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (PS) - 3/5 - I actually sagged one of these used at Ebgames for about $10. I was very surprised to get it so cheap, considering that Amazon still charges over $30. This is probably one of the best side-scrollers of all time. It had this really nice Super Metroid feel to it and a sweet soundtrack to boot.

Some of the rarest I *was* looking for...

Intelligent Qube (PS) 4/5
- Man, this one made me mad. About a year back, we had two copies of this one at my store and some punk came, busted the drawer and stole the two (along with a few others) –this happened probably a few hours before my shift when I was going to pick one of them up and save the other for my manager.

EinHander (PS) 4/5

Valkyrie Profile (PS) 5/5
- It's good to hear that this one is coming to the PSP

I don't know if that's actually "rare", I see it in stores all the time. It's old and expensive, but not rare yet.

Sam and Max Hit the Road, the original Monkey Islands, and the Maniac Mansion games are VERY hard to find outside the internet. So I'll go ahead and say those are pretty rare.

No, Legend of Legaia is rare.

I`ve seen that Castlevania game for 25$ used. I was like: WHAT?!

Star Ocean The Second Story - 4/5

One of the greatest RPGs of all time, I bought this back when I first got my PS1, when everyone else was busy playing FFy, I was kickin' it with Claude, Rena, Celene and Opera.

Valkyrie Profile - 5/5

Bought it off some kid for $25 while working at Gamestop. He was about to trade it in, I couldn't let that happen, so I ran to the ATM and got the cash to buy it off him. No instructions, but good condition jewel case and amazing condition CD's.

Earthbound - 4/5

This is actually a really tough game to come by nowadays, a mint condition can sell for around $80 on eBay. I've still got my SNES cart in mint, but my strategy guide is completely torn up.

Chrono Trigger - 4/5

The SNES cart, not the FF Chronicles version. This is a rarity to find, if you ever get the chance to get the cart of it for below $40, snag it ASAP.

Also, for those interested in Valkyrie Profile, I've heard rumors of a remake of the PS1 version on the PSP.

Yeah, as I mentioned, Star Ocear II is a great game. Still stuck on those four guardians though....bleh. XP Got my copy on eBay.

Grandia is one of the greatest RPGs I have ever played and it is tied with the sequel which isn`t rare at all. Grandia`s rarity gets a two out of 5 , but i have to give Grandia Xtreme a 4 out of 5. Great game, and very underrated.

I would also like to comment Grandia`s battle system is the best ever IMO.

I'm nt positive exactly how rare it is, but it seems like nobody has ever heard of Team Buddies for the Playstation 1. I've heard a rumor that only 1000 copies were made, but there must be more than that. This game is a BLAST! I nabbed it from Sams club for about 8 bucks; now it sells on ebay for about 40-60, mint condition. I've never seen it in a store before. It might not be THAT rare, but I know the company shut down amd the website closed down too, and it's pretty hard to find, so it seems. I'd say about a 3/5

I saw it for 2$ at Ebgames, and it didn`t look appealing.

It took me forever to find Ehgeiz for PSX, so...

Ehrgeiz: 4/5
It's not so difficult to find on ebay, but I try to avoid ebay if at all possible. The average going price on ebay is appx. $25-$30, and I found my copy at Gamestop for $25. It's a fun game to play. It can be frustrating at times (as most fighting games can be). It's not as polished a game as Capcom Vs. SNK 2 (which is the best fighting game of all time, IMO and my standard to judge others by), but it's still fun to play and features several FF7 characters (if you didn't know already). Also features a long action RPG style game thingy that I haven't beaten yet.

Hm.....I was curious about that game and made a thread about it.

It appears no one here likes it but you.

System Shock 2 is a FPS/RPG hybird scifi game. It calls itself a horror game (on the package) but that's more because of the zombie-like creatures everywhere than an actual attempt to make a horror game. It doesn't try to be really disgusting or anything, it's about as bloody as half-life or similar FPS games. It's just a suspensful FPS what uses sound and the dark environment masterfully to create the mood you would have if you were the only living person on a spacecraft full of aliens trying to kill you, which is scared stiff. I would highly recommend it if you like any FPS's, the game is classic but hard to find.

Yeah, I'm curious about that myself. My big beef right now is that SHODAN is gone. It just can't be the same without SHODAN!

There are so many rare games out there that it would be hard to list them all. One that jumps to mind is Panorama Cotton, for the Japanese Megadrive (Genesis here in the States). Only 5000 copies were pressed. So...5/5?

Then there are other things that have only a handful of existing units. They go beyond rare.

Alien Soldier

EinHander (PS) 4/5

Isn't this a 3-D shmup? I think I've played it before...

It appears no one here likes it but you.

I like Ehrgeiz. Our theater still has the arcade version (maybe I could buy it off 'em :D ).

BTW, what exactly IS Valkyrie Profile? I know I've heard of it before...

Oh, then i stand corrected. I just made a thread about it way back and everyone said it sucked.

Valkyrie Profile was made by Tri-Ace which is responcible for Star Ocean 1-3 and Radiata Stories. Tri-Ace is known for making RPGs woth real time battle systems seperate from just walking around.

the shin megami games! you still might be able to find digital devil II cuz it hasnt been out for that long, but seriously, digital devil I and nocturne are insane hard to find! i got nocturne when it first game out, and got lucky and went into eb the same time someone was trading their copy of digital devil I in, so i bought that in a flash. you can find it on ebay, but it's expensive, even used it's 50+, more then one would pay for a new copy! 4/5

I`ve seen Digital Devil Saga II for about 20$ used at EB.
I was gonna purchase it, but then I saw the rating.

digital devil II is a direct sequal to the first one, so you'd really have to play the first one to completion before understanding whats going on in the second.

Alien Soldier actually ain't that rare. It's pricey because it rocks and everyone wants it, but it isn't technically 'rare'.
