A question about MYST.

I finished the game MYST last night, and though I enjoyed playing the game, the only reason I really stuck with it was the plot.
Needless to say to anyone who has finished the game, the ending sucks. Nothing is resolved, and it ends so abruptly there isn't much time to make sense of it.
I bought it in the 10th Anniversary thing that came with the next two games, do the others end well? I'd rather not waste my time finishing them if they end as horribly as the first. Is the story from the first game explained in them? If anyone could answer, it would be much appreciated.

Riven's ending is simply incredible - I was enthralled. I haven't beaten Myst III yet, so I can't say.
Then again, you might not want my opinon, since I liked Myst's end.

Know that I know you can find out what happens to the brothers, the ending's quite a bit more tolerable for me (I'm not a patient person, and I didn't know the game continued after the credits ended. Oops).
At any rate, I guess I can play Riven now. Thank you.

Riven's ending, indeed, is incredible. So is Exile's. And you find out what happens to the brothers not untill Myst IV.
Don't worry, the endings for the next games in the series don't suck as much as Myst's did.

Oh, so you actually see more of the brothers later in the series? I thought they
exploded in the first game?
If this is true, I'm ecstatic. I found them to be very interesting.

I hate the way that IV and V are on DVD. Otherwise I'd have a chance to play them. >_>
Yes, Sirrus and Achenar had their link-books destroyed and everyone in the game thought that Atrus killed them... but his secret was that he didn't.
Agh. He's too soft...
Anyway, I've started Exile and I'm quite looking forward to playing Myst 4. Thank you both for your help.

Yea... The myst ending was like... a "revelation" hahah *myst joke* into what was actually going on:
They were BOTH deceiving you... and it showed how both of them were corrupt... this theme of the brother's corruptedness continues throughout the MYST series
I thought the RIVEN end was incredible as well... The whole "revelation" *cracks up* of how to solve it... was like... amazing... It made me think in ways I had never thought before. Exile I have still yet to beat... though i Own... REVELATION! XDDD

I hate Riven b/c I couldn't win mine...there was a weird bug at the end where a code I needed to use refused to work. Much agony ensued.

I hate Riven just because!
Well, not HATE, really, more indifference...I must be the only person who didn't think it was the best in the Myst series.

So.. you beat it? It took me like... 3 years (no kidding) cause I got so frustrated with it I just had to stop playing it for a bit... Then i played it again 2 years later. At the end, though... i saw how complex the puzzles were to fit all together... and I guess I appreciate how the developers/creators got me to think in different ways in order to solve the whole thing.

I used a walkthrough. Yeah, I know...blasphemy
The sphere puzzle just required too much patience for me.

Riven was horribly difficult, yeah, and it took me ages to get through. But it's such an incredible experience, all the same...
